yes and yes

This is only temp and I cant do this all the time. ( borrowing work machines for folding).

I could if I had the effort and time to code the bat scripts to run it all, push it to about 150 - 200 P4 1.8ghz machines and 40 P4 2.8ghz machines for a weekend. but thats alot of work and more risk of something going wrong than I want.

Perhaps you could use this ClickitiClickiti

Hope it helps.

EDIT: added the following:

Also you do know that stopping the folding program is as simple as deleting the lock file (foldtrajlite.lock).. SO a batch file for this would be a one liner with the following:

@echo off
:start
if EXIST foldtrajlite.lock del foldtrajlite.lock

BTW, the above deletion command should be added to the foldit.bat that comes with the program, to ensure deletion of the lock file that might be left behind by improper shutdown of the program.

You will only be needing a scheduler on each computer, to run first "foldit.bat" say Fridays afternoon, and two days later the one liner stop bat.

That was some damn fine folding Joe! 9 million extra points is sweet start on the 12.5 that jaydee split with. Can we count on that every weekend?

You know who ought to be foldding? Bigben - it was his thread that pushed jaydee over the edge. Let's all pm him. If he isn't showing any result in DF, how can we believe he'll get results from the 'WBTA' ?

No, I am dead serious! P166 and 32megs EDO ram. I think he said something about OC'ing it to 200mhz.

EDIT: found a thread all about it. http://forums.procooling.com/vbb/sho...&threadid=7667

Hmmm, I don't think the P166 is going to replace jaydee. Then again, is the replacement of jaydee even possible? Surely Ben owns or has access to faster and better machines - something built in this millenium, perhaps.

Regardless, its more of an atonement/suppliment thing. Every little bit counts.

I am workign on a plan to get about 2x or 3x that for every weekend. Stay tuned. and it may not hit 3x that for a few weeks - months since I need to wait for a big deployment to happen.

ANd yes I think I can do the whole Friday night - Monday morning span on the current rate with no problem. so that will be a cool 9 million extra every week. Sorta makes 12 mil overall seem like pocket change

Sure, I was only putting out 400,000-500,000 a day. 2-2.5 top of the line desktops should easily cover that. I only have 7300mhz of power spread out through 5 computers. 3 of which are KT133 or slower tech level.

Probably going to be shutting down/selling a few of them and going to be using one for a UT2003/Other game server. Power bill is getting a little heavy around here. Need to start cutting back on some things and saving some cash for future events.

Remember every new protein crunches at different rates. Tomorrow we get a new one and it could cut speeds in half again or it could be the same or it could be faster. It sucks when they are slower as it takes longer to fill that gap between teams and team mates and what not.

Sheesh! Such a serious answer to a mix of metaphore and flattery. So much for getting those points moved back here.

The upcoming protein is another short one, 61 or 62 residues I think. Fast, but not as fast. It ought to run about 25 to 30 percent slower than the current.

Yay Joe! Harness them resources!

I caught your drift, but 12 million (now 14million) is not really that much. As Joe demonstrated a weekend or two and you would never know the difference.

Little disapointed in making an effort to get this team fired back up and then get disgruntaled and leave it, but shit happens...

I seriously hope its a SLOW ass protein, if it is, I will pull out the big guns (which I have yet to let loose).

I am finishing some deployment scripting for this currently...

seems to be a lil flaky, but we will seee

Just added 14 2.53 Ghz P4's to the mix.

SO thats 20 2.8ghz and 14 2.5Ghz should be nice for nightly and weekend runs.
