The fact is you couldn't buy 90% of what MZ has made, and only he will have that warm glow from knowing it was his hard efforts that got him there.
Oh I know that's not the point. I just was curious is all. And yeah, I'm sure if you build your own blocks..... especially if you have a very thought out setup like TimeLord does, than the satisfaction from successfully completing it is awesome

Money spent on endmills, drillbits, wet/dry sandpaper, solder, propane, etc... didn't exceed $200 US (to my best recollection)

Time spent ... well... hmm... for the whole project to the last "beauty shots" was about 4+ hours a day 3+ days a week for about two months... you do the math.

Satisfaction... priceless. I now have a water cooling solution that no other person posseses and I designed and built it myself.

Not too shabby for a guy with no college education...

Bump for a priceless thread.

I also received my copper order, and it's just a matter of time before I get started on my HDD and PSU projects.

(Some copper will also be turned into a heat die, for testing, yeah, it was a big order, cheers pHaestus!)

Well, I've finally retired this system. No failures, just an old machine. I could probably update it with SATA drives now, but I'm using the cage as an external Hard Drive holder for a two drive mirrored set. Everything else in the original machine works, it's just not up to standards today.

Not to mention time and money to keep tinkering. I've been storing it for about a year now and will probably pull it out of storage some day to rebuild it.

How did your stuff turn out bigben2k?

Amazing work here man! Just looked over the whole thread, might be approaching my upgrade build in a similar manner. Debating whether to spiff up my old full tower and go water cooled, or go back to air and use my Antec 300.

Have some pictures of your new system? Anything custom on it? I'd buy that video card from your old box if you'd part it out.

Be kind of hard to part with it... I'm thinking of framing it.

Seriously, at this point in my life, the time issue has taken away the watercooling bug I had...

Cheers!

Heh, well, if you ever do replace it in the upgrading process, I'd appreciate it and use it! It's also a TV tuner, correct?

Indeed... that was one of my concerns when I built the sandwich block for it.

I'll make sure and post it here if I decide to part with it.
