Gettin' old sucks, you forget things!

nah, this IS flux... because it is IN the water, suspended like that (water soluble)

and the problem im having is probably very isolated with the maze2.

He just has to do it.

ok, I am too lazy to read all the replies (missed bout the last 10) but in my experience this is waht is is:

in one word: Calcium (well, in my case anyway)

I ran a pure distilled water setup for 3 months, and when everything got too foggy to see through nicely, I decided to clean the setup (well, the leak helped perswade me too).

When I took off of those, I could clearly see a "White" (not any other colour) buildup. First though, get a CLR rip off. So I ran upstairs, but we only had half a bottol of "Lime-Away" left, but I figured it would work (important later). I filled the tupes, and let them soak for two days, but it only made the tubing 'spotty'. I then looked at the bottol, and it said it only worked on lime, not all three. I then soaked them in hot soapy water, but that only made the spots more visible (not quite sure why). So then I went to the store, and bought 1 liter of Isopropyl alcohol (we were out, and you can never have too much). I ran my whole system with about 500ml of the alchol and whatever it took to top off my system of water (mabe 100ml).
It took two more days, but all the fog is gone, and now I run Anti-freeze, so I will see if that helps at all.

One explination, but may not solve the probolem for all of you.
Btw, I didn't get any foaming... and it was 99% pure stuff, just in case it matters.

I get this white slim after about 3 weeks with any of my systems. The water will be fine untill it is circulated, then the white crap starts to build. I also think the extra few C of heat help it grow faster. I am certain it is growth of somekind. I never used a maze 2 and it happens regularly with my copper and AL blocks. I did run some water through a filter once and it helped, but still in time it happened. My next systems will run watter wetter or equvelent and I will see if it stops. I never worried about it before because my systems come apart every weekend, but who knows how much of this crap is stuck in the rads. Going to run windsheild washer fliud through the rads being it is only 84cents a gallon. Hell I may even use it for the coolant.

My setup uses an z4(shut up ) and have changed the tubing/setup several times. Ive only gotten the white residue a few times, maybe 2 outta the 4 times ive done it. I use distilled water from the store. Ive gotten all the vinyl hoses from home depot. The only thing in common is the fact that ive blown through the hoses prior to install(to mess with my girl's cats).
Methinks the water might be getting contaminated by oil on the hands or some biological means.
Its just a theory......

I used distilled water with water wetter mixed as per Danger Den recommendations (4 oz / gal), and I don't have any shit in my tubing running for two months now.

But when I go to the crystal clear Tygon hopefully tomorrow, then I'll be able to see for sure. Hoping the fluid stays clear!

i have been up and running for 3 weeks now(with tygon tubing)and im starting to see the white film ya'll are talking about...sucks when u have clear tubing...im using straight tap water and a drop of bleach...but im tearing my system down in a few days to add a w/b to my vid card and to change to 1/2 x 3/4 tygon(i know have 1/2 x 5/8 to flimsy for me)...so if ya'll come across anything to stop it i sure would be glad to give it a whirl

Yeah, that day sure sucked for me!

When you are cranking down on the hold down nuts for you water block and you hear a "click" you probalby crushed the core!

I think it was more the imbalance or angle that did it, than the pressure. Whatever, hope not to hear that sound again.

Yeah I know that distilled water breaks the budget at .99 cents a gallon! LOL

I think that's a good idea UP... .

its best to use distilled over tap... but redline is still much better down the road.

i was doing some corrosion tests a while back... and they are still sitting there. as soon as i get a DigiCam again i will take pics (any day)

anyway. the tests were copper and aluminum in a bunch of test cups... distilled water showed green oxidation forming after a while in the distilled water... the redline is still perfect =)

I remember part of this test you did DC.
Was the Redline mixed 4oz / gallon of distilled water? Sorry, I can't recall.

i used redline 4oz and 2 oz mixtures, purpleice 4oz and 2oz mixtures, distilled, and tap

the 4oz to one gal is the recommended mix of both products

Thanks Digital
The 4oz to gal is what I use, glad to know this is the correct mix.
