So standing at this barrerier, knowing its going to take some new type of material for water blocks, or some new way of getting the heat into the air, we are left with few options. Either stick with the same ugly ass blocks, or start with the cosmetic end of things.
Which is what I have seen happoning with all the newer blocks being intorduced. I think its great.

i think the main issue is getting heat from the cpu to the copper itself

true, but it can go the other way as well.
I would love to see a new alloy hit the market that just totally sucks up heat. Untill then we are stuck with alluminum and copper, and I am still not convinced that copper is all that much better the alluminum. Joe? Test my blocks! PLEASE!

I remember seeing some japanese company that did copper IHS's for athlons, I wonder how a waterblock would go with an IHS that touched the cpu core on all 5 sides we can see

By the time we get that all figured out the the hammers will be out with a new socket design AND a heat spreader on top. So everything wilkl have to evolve a bit again. I am not sure if this heat spreader is going to be a good thing or not?

they will be a good thing if they are molecularly connected to the cpu core, like one micron above the core itself. bad thing if they do it intel style, just do a normal core, get some crappy TIM, and slap it on top of the core
