Let me know how close to the tanks you cut the tubes. I'll cut mine down to the same length. (About 1.25" from where the tube enters the tank works well for me.)

This is getting pretty nitpicky I know, but I need to cut them down anyway, so may as well make them as similar as possible.

I'll cut them as close to that 1.25" as I can. In that pic it looks like there may be that much, they bend just above the finned part of the core. So that means we should have all 5/8" Cu tubing already attached to the tanks, provided I'm right about that 3/4" only being at the end where I can get rid of it.

I just checked the pic again and it sure looks like I'll be able to get rid of the 3/4" part to me. Gotta like it.

Ok

Do let me know what you cut the tubes down to and I'll do the same with mine.

I worked on that 2-342 rad today. Due to how the 5/8" tube was in fact already bending as it came out of the tank I had to cut it very short, less than 1/2". I would not have cared to use it like that so went to town to get some barbs. I could have bought a bunch of plastic ones but went to both places in town and no brass ones. I bought a Cu 1/2" fitting for joining two 1/2" tubes and it fits. Interesting how the rads tubes are OD instead of ID like plumbers pipe, but worked out pretty good. The 3/4" end is 1 1/8" as the curve at that end started there, will make the 5/8'' match. If I was you I'd just cut yours at the length you like a 1/8" differance isn't going to be enough to note.

I know you wanted to have our two rads be as much alike as possible but this was the best I could do. This shouldn't matter much as BillA said he can allow for it. And the total volume of the two rads is only 2 cubic inches differant, looks good to me.

How's about we send them off to BillA?

silly question

I know this is a moot point since this is all done but all I did was heat up the joint, (heat gun for that), pulled the tubes out, cut out the pieces/lengths I needed, and then soldered them back in. Never did it b4 and worked like a charm....

On the other hand put 'Ventilation holes' in it trying to rivet a shroud to the sides. (DONT DO THAT!) I will now use velcro (tried with my new 'dummy') and that will support the shroud and 2 fans just fine. Ordered a 2-342 (see my posts) which turns out to be even more perfect for my setup (gotta get digicam and pictures after I am done making this concoction of mine). Will see how fast that gets here and how it all fits together.

Hi Mike,

Welcome to ProCooling !

I'd be interested to see your usage of the 2-342 rad. Can you post the other items involved in your system like the case, pump, line size, blocks and how they are all going to be arranged in your case? Look forward to see your project develop.

And again welcome aboard !

BE
