the stability of DF is amazing

I just think this is a VERY slow protein - after all on the last I could get 200k/day easily and now I'm having trouble getting to 50k.

My machines haven't changed and even I have a mate doing 8hours/day at night so my production shoudl have increased - but still VERY slow.

On the up side though I'm nearly up to 10mil.

Joe, do ya really think all several hundred copies of DF could crash at the same time? I'd heard 'bout yo' powerful auroras causin' disrupshuns, but, damn that a big ol' co-inky-dink. Mebbe this's one of those cases where the error is 'tween the keyboard and chair.

Clone, anything in y'all's error.log? Done the service uninstall/re-install cycle? Ya gots buffered gens?

I once had my "farm" crash because of a bad update a couple of months ago - needed a restart to become active so it was uselessly folding for a week or so - annoying.

Don't know if this was picked up as a general error or was just localised still f***king annoying. So it is possible.

You can see who the people are who are using the new client are: they are colour coded.
After a "test run" I have upgraded both of mine so I should get into green - the server alone can churn out 75k a day it looks like on this new cleint and my main machine is much faster.

Your only grinning 'cause you just overtook me - well I'll have you shaking in your boots soon as my "farm" revs up.

No it is a BETA client. For volunteers only. You have to manually install it.

Also just because it is colored doesn't mean you have the BETA client. The colors are there to show levels of output, not what client your running. Boli was being a little sarcastic I am sure with that statment.

Basically it seems to be a more efficient client and will increase your output with the same machnes BUT and here is the clincher - it is a BETA, and may contain instability issues. The only ones of which that have ben reported so far hav been with Linux machines.

Myself: I have found that it isn't as stable on higher clockspeeds (overclocking) than the "normal version", but this could be one of many factors and can't be included with an "official error report" - more like a hunch. But still something to watch out for.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Show me the MIPS.

BTW. Haven't seen any stability issues on my two P4's running round the clock for the last couple days. (XP and 2000)

I am finding that it crashes out occasionally - but this could be one of MANY factors - but it is maybe something to watch out for.

Hmmm and you have very similar power to what I have *plots*

Upcoming update
There is a client/screensaver update scheduled for Thursday, December 18, 2003, at 10:00 am EST. Now that the algorithm changes have been tested, we would like to release the update with sufficient time to ensure a smooth transition before the holidays, despite the fact that we have not yet reached the posted 5 billion target.
