I don't know then. Sometimes you can get some points credit for an uncompleted or corrupted WU even though you don't get a WU completed credit.

Thanks for bumping this topic...
Have added my main rig (AXP @ 3200+) last night...
will add my other rigs tonight

I find it kinda strange however that the procooling team only has 27 members...

Why does everybody blame the Xeons? It's not like I'm using _that_ many of them... ;p
Oh, and I just got my wife's machine up and going again--Dual Palomino 1700+s. Should have some WUs done within another hour or so.

well guys I am finally going to start running a distributed client, sadly I only have one computer that is on for any reasonable amount of time and it is a PII 350.... how long do you suppose it will take to complete work units?

it is the linux client btw

Got my P3 733 Linux box folding now too ...
Gonna get our family desktop folding too, once I got it's shutdown problem fixed (It just shuts downafter a while, after which you can power it up again. After that it will boot into whodhoze and shutdown again ... smells like a CPU or something else getting too hot no?)

@ Caeberos : A week or so, maybe even longer

@ all the others: it's not the battle for the first place in our team that matters (ok, maybe it does matter...) but imo it's the team ranking that would be cool to get up.

It seems that we're climbing up the list pretty fast but the pace up will slow down unless we get more machines signed up with 39339.

Chewtoy, Arc, Night, anybody? Are there any setting that we can set on the client that you have found that will produce larger WUs or points faster?

Default Ok, I think I'm folding...

I haven't been here in a while, and remembered about Distributed Folding, so I decided to check it out. Saw it was dead, and came here to see what was up. So I'm all signed up for it now, just 1 2400+ @ 2600+ speeds with 1 Gig of RAM, so we'll see if I help out any.

Signed up with an A64 3400+ running on screensaver, which means it will probably get about 12 hours a day in.

My laptop runs 24/7, so someone might as well get some use out of the cycles that are otherwise devoted to running my starfield screensaver, and the occasional virus scan and such.

Before I forget to ask, are any of the clients faster than the others? Not including the Linux, which is probably faster than Windows but I don't have Linux on this machine right now (sharing it with my wife ATM). Is the Text client faster than the display or screensaver?

I guess the console application, installed as a system service would be slightly faster, because it doesn' generate any useless output (like visual images, reports, etc.), it just does its job.
But probably, the difference should be so small, you will only be able to notice it on the long term...

\

I've also read on F@H's site that the client console (text box) is faster. The F@H core program is suppose to be faster on a Windows based machine vs Linux because it was designed and optimized for Windows. I think it also makes a difference what type (AMD, P4 w/, w/o HT, Xenon, etc.) of cpu your using also.

My 64 bit has finished about 20% of its work so far, in approximately 8 hours or so. But, for the first while my system had done its usual worst, and somehow throttled down to a woeful 645 Mhz. I think I've got a BIOS fault or something, as this system will only run at 1.45 Ghz, rather than its rated 2.2Ghz.
Edit: I seem to get my z's mixed with x's occasionally...

Ok, is there any way to save my work done so far? I'm at 1750/2500 on my first WU and don't really want to lose it if I switch over to the text client.

I'm fairly sure you can just download the text console client into your folder that you have the GUI version in and run it from there. Make sure to quit your GUI version first. It should save to the last checkpoint and the text console should take over from there. If I'm off base on this, please somebody correct me.

FYI. It seems that our rate of earning points relative to our nearest competition is still at a high rate as of 10/30/04. Click thumbnail for larger image.

Most teams that put out 60,000 points a week are in the Top 100. We should be there by the end of February or so.
