They are developing a Cu extended channel WB called the Ascent with some very impressive numbers

You see,

"I BELIEVE"

I wasn't totally sure.. and I never said I was 100% right.. that's why I said I BELIEVE.. assw!pe.

Instead of flaming me you should of just made the correction.
Well judging by this post you know absolutly nothing about thermodynamics, now you really shot yourself in the foot.

OH and word to the wise, calling a staff member an asshole and an asswipe because he corrected your ignorance is not too bright and certianly will not lend you credibility in this forum.

Let me get this straight:

You crap all over decoded's thread (this was initially about the quality of data available from Lytron if you may recall) and then get mad at getting flamed when I call you on posting garbage?

I don't have the patience to explain thermodynamics to someone who has already stated that they aren't interested in such. That's fine, but please refrain from spouting off on things you don't know about.

To the interested: Here's a good heat transfer intro; don't even have to leave the house:

The overclockers.com forum had to die that particular time...
Well if you do a search on overclockers.com forum, you can see the "depth" of Punisher's knowledge on thermodynamics, particularly the long thread on the phase-change project. And yes, many of his posts are characterized by his absolute self-believing way of thinking.

Perspective is everything. If the majority is smarter than you, does that make everyone else a geek, or does it make you retarded?

That's a rhetorical question, BTW.

I actually started reading the Lienhard's work on heat transfer that Ph linked to. I started recalling the late night study sessions that I endured at the age of 19 when I actually had to study Thermo-D while wondering why an EE major was subjected to such insults. I promptly recovered and asked...Where are the boobs?

Cheers!

Ben, follow the link to the PDF on the cold plates, it is on the second page of the PDF under the link which should be page 7 in the catalog.

"Lytron's highest performance technology is our [b]extended surface cold plate[b] (shown in blue). The CP20 is our aluminum-based solution, the Ascent is our newest copper-based solution. Both are excelent for chip cooling."

It is essentially a Cu CP20, they picture it in the "Z" configuration on the page.

I must be totally ignorant. Who's the actress in that pic? I was thinking Winona Ryder, but that girl's too young.

Ah yes, the actress in question is Christina Ricci, or Wednesday from The Adams Family movies (as well as many other films), aka my other GF.

Which movie is tha C.R. pic from? I'm guessing Adams Family since you keep mentioning it, but whatever movie it is, I haven't seen it... yet.

And as for the other ORIGINAL point to this thread - It would be nice to get actual numbers on blocks. Total surface area, flow rates/restriction, cooling ability, etc... It doesn't have to be as specific as intustrial specs, but just a small something would be nice.

Send them out to an independant testing lab (anyone have a friend who works at one for $cheap$ testing? ) and get data for low thru high flowrate at a few average wattages of heat different CPUs give off - whatever data would be useful.

If you had hard data for both waterblocks and heatercores, etc... you could probably design & match up the best efficiency system for your computer. I'm sure there are hardcore watercoolers who would love to get this data.

thats definetally not teh Adams Family. That is just a movie lots of people know that she was in. SHe played a lot of little kid rolls for years where she had to tape her breasts down. Saw her talking about it on TV a bit ago. She has a pretty nice set to so it was kind of a shame. She is in movies where she doesn't play kids anymore(as you can see in that pic). would be interested in knowing what movie that is too I can't figure it out.

what ive learned (i think):

punisher hates dd cause they dont have a degree in thermodynamics, but likes gemini cause a guy there does, and dd takes forever to respond to emails about technical questions to their products

decodeddiesel likes pdfs so he can learn information and make the best possible informed buying decision

(just a outside view on this developing post)

personally i think this is a stupid arguement and we should get back to the initial discussion about lytrons products and their possible "effects" on hobbyist watercooling
