Things do seem to be picking up for me at least--over the last 2h11m, my machine is now averaging 7.84 gens/hour; versus the running average of 6.6 gens/hour between gen 7 and gen 143(current)...so that's looking much more like the 20% drop that was expected. ![]()

Done the same now, with this new protein wich, acording to groth, is a bit slower. NF7 +xp2500 @2410 MHZ: 526 A7m266 + 2*2800 @ 2246: 446 502 This was in 75 hours +-. The NF7 one is a web server (low load), the other dual processor one is my main rig (normally browsing, some cs, some diablo 2). One thing i noted, these 3 days: my output is as low as 50k/day. Before i had these ones and 3 P1000. Now, only 3 P1000. So the 3 P1000 make 50k? WTF? They are WAY weak for this i think? EDIT: WOOPS sorry, had 2 of my P1000 "stuffing" ( ![]() ONE HAD 218 buffereds, the other 225.

If mine die, they die quietly. I have the NT service setup to automagically restart the service when it dies anyway, so I wouldn't notice.
When I get around to getting my devel box back up, I'll let you know if the process dies on there...

although the program only works on idle cycles. it still uses memory bandwidth. and i was finding some programs didn't perform as quickly... what is the point of overclocking to get that extra little bit out of the machine when you have a program taking away that extra little bit.

I do a lot of video compression... sizes as high as 1080i(1920x1080 30fps) got me thinking about other applications that is getting slowed down due to memory bandwidth.

she beleived it was causing her machine to crash.... so i removed... it was still crashing.... after a windows reinstall... it works pretty stable... IE still crashes though never put it back on... one was my son's machine... curently disconected from the net...(he is only 4) the last one was my step daugters machine... she has so much stuff loading right now that it takes 5 min just to boot her computer...(dual 550). my server is curently down... have to figure away around the win2003server 30 day activation crap. add on top of that.. by the time i get the kids to bed (4yr & 14month) .. i'm ready to die.... no time no energy... i have my current project (watercooled) that has been sitting on the shelf for 3 weeks because i don't have the time to work on it.. maybe this weekend... maybe

My main machines GFX card died... and I can't OC the chip as altering the voltages causes the temp. PCI Graphics card not to work *shrugs*.... My Dad had to remove the service from his 2000+ as it cuased major hangups with his burning.
So I'm dfown to 1x1800+, and 1x2000+ roughly half my output... So YES I am "slacking". ~ Boli

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Services and Applications -> Services Right click on the Distributed Folding service, Select Properties, Click on the Recovery tab. There you will find various options to automatically restart the service when it fails. Beware, that setting an automatic restart could easily cause an infinite loop of stopping/starting cycles if the application has bugs.

I thought I had the service configured to restart, but I didn't--I apparently forgot to enable that on this install of XP. Mine must be stable.

Go ftjandra! Nice to see that I'm not the only one running the backend-beta. I certainly couldn't have taken down OCworkbench or Asylum Research on my own.
(Before anyyone gets too excited, this beta is just a test of the new backend/gen-verification scheme. The points from it don't count for the regular total. Plus it's really buggy.) Last edited by Groth; 02-27-2004 at 07:13 PM. Reason: spelling |

![]() It should be interesting, though. I plan on getting a 4-way Xeon 700 any day now (replacement devel machine, have to 'stress test' it, having come off eBay and all... ![]()
