What all do you need to buy to start powdercoating? I was interested in powdercoating some small stuff to see how it would do. I know you need a oven, pc gun, I've heard someone say you need a sandblaster to rough the surface up so the paint will stick. I'd appreciate your opinions on what to buy and some good brand names. Thanks

Can you color sand the powder coat and then simply rebake it? Would it reflow?
If not, could you bake the pc at a lower temp, sand and then bake at the higher heat? I used to operate a bshop for many years and retained a lot of the equiptment for my retirement years...would like to avoid the polishing. wj |

you should be able to reheat it afterwards..as long as it's not to long afterwards...if it's more than a couple hours, i'd assume the coat is set..

after paint is applied to a car surface and let to dry it will have some texture. If you wet sand with 600~2000 grit sand paper you can remove these undulations...then polish and it is a mirrow finish.
I would like to avoid the polish process. If the powder coat will reflow then that would be the cat's meow. wj |
