I think Jon meant a cone at the bottom of the cup. The answer is no, it would deteriorate performance, because it starts directing the coolant flow, which diminishes the inpingement effect.

It's also infinitely difficult to do, as it requires special/custom tooling.

Aww could be. Yeah I remember in the Cascade thread we went through all that. Flat bottom is what we want from what i picked up.

As for the cone, remember my cone pin block? I can make those cones identical but reversed into the metal. Like I said the bits are V shapped. If I just go strait down it will make a perfect cone with a 22 degree or a 33 degree angle depending on the bit. I can even get 15 degree angled bits.

Just tapped the holes and dry mounted the peices. Hooked it up to my 200GPH pump and flow is great! I think this is going to be a good one. Will slap up some new pics in a bit. I need to get some screws before sealing it though. Will try and get them tomorrow after work.

Jesus since when did this hobby turn to commercial copyright infringments??? Block looks nice jaydee. How thick is the base plate at it's thinnest spot (where the holes are)?

The total base thickness is .125". The cups are .050" deep. So .075" at the thinnest spots at the bottom of the cups.

I "hope" to have this up and running tomorrow or Friday. I need to get some screws for it and I have one other block to test first which the the 9 hole one with just the inlet and no jets. Ran out of time tonight. I think it is going to work pretty good though.

Will have 6 screws and sealed with clear RTV silicone. Same as the last several blocks I have done.

edit: Also left room for an O-ring groove. Just havn't bothered to order any. Silicon is working out excellent anyway for now.

Here is a little teaser. Should have it mounted tomorrow as it is sealed up and almost ready to go. Just have to drill the mounting holes through the copper.

I wanna see how it compares to the Cascade mostly. They seem to have the same design, with a few differences though.

I am certain it is going to work very well, but I doubt it will be anything near Cascade performance. I am just shooting for better than Maze 4 performance which it should do and then some. Will have it on tonight after work. About 4 more hours untill I get home..... TGIF for sure!

Most people claim the maze 3 can beat the maze4. Wanna see performance.

I don't have a Maze 3 so I am not to worried about it. Stuck with this Maze 4. Have yet to see a quality review comparing the two. All we got is a couple enthusiests results that are so so. Wish I had a Maze 3 and a White Water though to compare with.

Wish Bill A was still doing reviews. I would have sent him the Jet Block.. Now I will have to wait for pH to get his stuff together....

yes I have a CNC mill but this wasn't done with it. I used a Epilog Radius 80watt laser engraver and a Xenetech XOT Rotory engraver.

$50,000 for the laser and $14,000 for the engraver (I use them every day at work, I don't own them). My CNC mill was $1,800 with accessories which I DO own and is capable if making these blocks. But with the laser it only takes about 5 minutes from start to finish to make the top and middle peice and another minute on the rotory engraver for the cups in the base. Add a few minutes for drilling and tapping holes... If I used my mill it would take an hour or so just to do the jets but it would come out cleaner....

Jet Block after 35mins:

Air: 27C
Water: 31C
TC: 43C
onboard: 40.5C

Going to remount it now.

I think you'll find the working model, when you get those cups deeper.

I'd suggest, as you already stated, going with a 1/4" base (>~6mm), and get a square cup cut in there, as deep as you dare.

Deeper holes maybe good..... I will see if I have any 1/4" copper left and try and run a new base out.... I can probaby go deeper in this 1/8" base though. I am not even half way through now...... Stuff to ponder.....
