haha all becomes clear. Cathar posted this comment at truextreme:

Quote:
When it comes to reviewers and the blocks I made, every single block that was sent for review was only done so by the reviewer paying for that block. If I had granted every reviewer who contacted me a free sample for review, that would have sucked up around one third of all the Cascade blocks that were made, and I'm sure that the buyers of the block would not have appreciated paying 40% more so all those reviewers could have a free block to slap on what typically amounts to a home system with no form of adequate testing control.

Because of the very small size of the Cascade production run, I ensured that only those reviewers who demonstrated a history of adequate testing procedure consciously got a hold of the block, and for those reviewers I provided the block for "at cost" price. For the multitude of small-time reviewers I typically did not respond because I'm not a charity case handing out free samples to anyone with a small website asking for what amounts to $80US out of my pocket.

The blocks were always made as a "hobby" thing. "By enthusiasts for enthusiasts" kinda deal. I'm not a large manufacturer spitting out thousands of $25-to-make blocks.

My apologies to all those reviewers who felt offended that they didn't automatically receive their free sample upon request. It seems that this may have caused considerable acrimony for certain reviewers.
To which Liquid3d responded:

Quote:
Cathar, I understand you can't send a block to every small reviewer; now. In the future, an email is much more professional, then no response at all. When you treat others with respect, and decency, it comes back to you. Sure it's probably a pain to answer every email requesting a waterblock, so create a automated response. It's just plain ole common decency.
And I am the person who is biased? What a load of crap.

Man this thread is awesome. Liquid3D got owned so badly, and him and I have a history (it all started when I accused him of being an advertiser, as his comments seemed to be heavy marketspeak, and it continued when I disputed whether or not, with an almost identical system [my pump is an MCP300, not a Hydor L30] the Z-chip heavily lowered flow [I measured...], with just a Maze 4 and a heater core in the system, and he eventually left EOCF) and this is just so satisfying. I like how he totally shut up in the trueextreme thread.

It's also common decency to not compare blocks to blocks that you have never handled or tested, and when you do not have a abecedarian (#3 definition under adjective at dictionary.com) understanding of the subject.

This is just too fun.

Your threat to slanderize my name once again, and use your position to damage my reputation as an independent reviewer, has now forced me to explore my legal options

He's gonna have a hard time proving I "slanderized" him anyway. I did in fact slander him (verbal character defamation) when discussing this topic with my wife on the car ride to work this am. Unfortunately I don't believe she can be compelled to testify against me. If he meant libel then I don't see anything I said that would fall under this category.

Now a threat to "slanderize" someone (over the Internet) when they've proven to us repeatedly that they're a dumbass is lawsuit worthy? LOL Only in America...

Attorneys would get rich just over the jurisdictional issues on this one.

For some reason I am reminded of Leonard Crabs, Attorney of Law. Now I am getting weird looks from people passing by the hall (why is he laughing so hard?)

That's the attorney that lowtax (owner of somethingawful) claims to use to defend himself when angry webmasters threaten lawsuits because their sites are mocked at somethingawful

The thread was closed over at Xtremeresources so I dunno what's going on exactly. I haven't yet been contacted by the liquid3d legal attack team but await on pins and needles (with babelfish ready).

The Xtremeresources guys and us share a LOT in common and they have some really good people over there too. I'd appreciate it if everyone continued to behave in a mature banner both here and at truextreme. So far I've been very impressed with the fact that things haven't gotten out of hand or turned ugly/personal. Well except for the original allegations by liquid3d, but I think they will be found to be baseless soon enough.

Yea I think so; he used to be anyway. Kinda funny because KE physically saw me testing the Cascade and RBX and we talked about the results before they were ever posted on Procooling.

just got this in my mail:
quote
Dear Bill,
In the process of seeking legal advice pertaining to slanderous comments made in the ProCooling forums, I've been informed of your position at Swiftech. I must say your regular involvment in ProCooling forums, especially in those threads where certain reviewers were belittled under the guise of crticism is most unprofessional. As a representitive of Swiftech, one would presume you would adhere to the unwritten rule employees of manufactures of products discussed in those public forums refrain from participation. I wonder how your comments would be received by the general public, if were to be forthright, and registered as an employee of Swiftech, instead of "unresgistered" as an esoteric euphemism.

Birds of a feather flock togetther. Albeit a simple proverb, it's quite accurate as to common traits among ProCooling forum regulars. Traits such as self promotion, superiority complexes, and a propensity to berate others. Altthough threads you participated in have been deleted, they were copied prior to their deletion for future actions. I hope you will consider Swiftech in the future prior to joining in a flame session.

unquote (no signature)

I must admit to having a really good belly laugh over this one

l3d, listen up now
you are dreadfully ignorant, the above is an example
and you are also quite stupid, the proof of which is your inability to reason logically
(and to pursue this 'debate')

now ignorance is a state which we ALL experience, but some surmount - your task is as yet undone
stupidity is a far heavier burden, and dictates choosing a profession where thinking is not important
- that choice is yours alone

That thread's not deleted; it's right here

He's also threatening action on me and Procooling. I dunno what he thinks he's gonna get out of either of us; I still have big debt from college and Procooling runs about a $150/month deficit.

//edit: I bet his immense vocabulary didn't pick up on that "My Fair Lady" quote either Bill. Shakespeare gets me banned from [H] and now G.B. Shaw gets you sued. Maybe the lack of liberal arts education in modern technical degrees isn't such a bad idea after all...
