When it comes to reviewers and the blocks I made, every single block that was sent for review was only done so by the reviewer paying for that block. If I had granted every reviewer who contacted me a free sample for review, that would have sucked up around one third of all the Cascade blocks that were made, and I'm sure that the buyers of the block would not have appreciated paying 40% more so all those reviewers could have a free block to slap on what typically amounts to a home system with no form of adequate testing control.

Because of the very small size of the Cascade production run, I ensured that only those reviewers who demonstrated a history of adequate testing procedure consciously got a hold of the block, and for those reviewers I provided the block for "at cost" price. For the multitude of small-time reviewers I typically did not respond because I'm not a charity case handing out free samples to anyone with a small website asking for what amounts to $80US out of my pocket.

The blocks were always made as a "hobby" thing. "By enthusiasts for enthusiasts" kinda deal. I'm not a large manufacturer spitting out thousands of $25-to-make blocks.

My apologies to all those reviewers who felt offended that they didn't automatically receive their free sample upon request. It seems that this may have caused considerable acrimony for certain reviewers.

Man this thread is awesome. Liquid3D got owned so badly, and him and I have a history (it all started when I accused him of being an advertiser, as his comments seemed to be heavy marketspeak, and it continued when I disputed whether or not, with an almost identical system [my pump is an MCP300, not a Hydor L30] the Z-chip heavily lowered flow [I measured...], with just a Maze 4 and a heater core in the system, and he eventually left EOCF) and this is just so satisfying. I like how he totally shut up in the trueextreme thread.

It's also common decency to not compare blocks to blocks that you have never handled or tested, and when you do not have a abecedarian (#3 definition under adjective at dictionary.com) understanding of the subject.

He's gonna have a hard time proving I "slanderized" him anyway. I did in fact slander him (verbal character defamation) when discussing this topic with my wife on the car ride to work this am. The thread was closed over at Xtremeresources so I dunno what's going on exactly. I haven't yet been contacted by the liquid3d legal attack team but await on pins and needles (with babelfish ready).

The Xtremeresources guys and us share a LOT in common and they have some really good people over there too. I'd appreciate it if everyone continued to behave in a mature banner both here and at truextreme. So far I've been very impressed with the fact that things haven't gotten out of hand or turned ugly/personal. Well except for the original allegations by liquid3d, but I think they will be found to be baseless soon enough.
