one modification. squirrel is still not ready, the machinist had a problem He thought that we had a mistake in our design but the mistake was not ours.

secondly, from what there was already milled, the spirals are not coming bad but the machinist told us that he going to continue this first, and then maybe do another one so that it could become better and hopefully with no errors

He's a lab technician. He won't be charging us. We've been comming and going to the University for many times to explain to him the diagram.

Bear in mind that the CNC is a manual one.

The CNC is rather crude. You need to feed all the program. His title is Lab Officer.

Oh ok, head of engineering to lab Officer. Demoted?

Manually program the code in? Is is an NC mill? (numarically controlled) I think.

Yeah, you can't connect it to a computer.

He wasn't demoted, my friend simply didn't know so he sputtered something out.

hara, pls do not bullshit.

the cnc is not manual. The problem is that he has to write the program on the cnc, then the cnc will do the cutting (or milling call it what you want) automatically. it absolutly not manually.

What size endmill did your "lab officer" use to make this? What's the rotation and feed speed?

rotation and feed speed i don't know. What I can answer you is that he used 2 endmills, one 4mm to make the outer "oval" and one 2mm to make the spirals

He also cuts in layers. A fraction of a millimeter deep each time.

kewl

Do either one of you know where I could get my hands on a 1.0 mm endmill, square end, to make a 4mm deep cut?

we could ask him and tell you. Next time that we will be appearing in his lab, I will try to remember to ask him. the only thing that i know is that when we were trying to cut another block, the one designed by hara (i don't have the link now), he was phoning every where to find a long series 1mm bit.

But I will try to remember and ask him to tell us from where he buys bits

For Radius? I'd ask some machinists, they usually have a list of suppliers and could point you in the right direction.
