Pro/Mini - Wow!
Joe,
Great job on the Pro/Mini - that's one sweet system. Errr... Should have also said it's systems like this that inspire me. DH3 is one heck of a system, but the all-in-a-small-box systems are what inspired me to start watercooling. ------------------ Melvyn [This message has been edited by melvyn (edited 02-01-2001).] |

bad ass setup...most impressed with the insulation...GREAT JOB THERE!!! So basically you let the sealant do all the holding in place and take the pressure off the clip (clip still adds pressure but not as much? also, where did you get the compunurse? i looked on coolerguys and it wasnt listed. thanks for doing such a great job...i learned alot

indeed, niiice system... I like the duct idea for the radiator, doesn't dump any excess heat into the system or draw cool air it away from the inside where it could be of more use.
Too bad about the CPU though... |

Also this was a answer to some of the cynics around who said "why dont you do something realistic" after DH3. There still may be some changes in store for the Mini, cause Going to a Tbird will require me to beef up the cooling system. ( cause I will be using a 156watt Pelt on the Tbird) To displace close to 235+watts of heat a bigger radiator needs to be involved so I may Add a new radaitor to the exaust side of the duct.
Waiting for Chip to get the new super 5x5 radiators he has come'n in to get in. But besides that I think this machine could handle a high end Tbird with NO physical outside changes. Next project I am working on is DH3 and its computer parts. I got the VP6 in, I just need to get 2 CPUs, 2 pelts, rest of the blocks and stuff, 2 650watt PSU's, the "New" video card from VisionTek, and 4-40Gb ATA100 7200Rpm HD's. Oh and a gig of ram or something I have like a big LAN Server now and a lan workstation now hehehehe its all game centric ------------------ C-ya Joe - Owner/Editor www.ProCooling.com Where the Completely Addicted Come to Cool Off Somebody set up us the bomb. Joe:
Good job!! Found one part pretty amusing... "With a business card I applied an ultra thin layer of Arctic silver on the cold plate..." You discovered my most sacred secret!! Drat!! Oh well, business cards are awesom for spreading the stuff around, aren't they. One question tho. When you were clamping down the cpu to the cold plate, how did you know WHEN to stop applying pressure? Or did you just guestimate? So what's up with this new 5x5" radiator???? I'm still not decided on the one I will use with my upcoming Tbird and 156W pelt. I'm leaning heavily towards the Lytron 6220. oh ja...you are scary with that Dremmel bud!! Good job! |

How did I know when to stop, Right about the point I started getting scared about shattering the core. I must have had around 60 - 80Lbs of pressuse on it but it was all perfecly even and on the face of the core not on the sides. I am sure if it was crooked it woulda broke it almost instantly. I will be getting one of OCWC's 5x5 monsters soon will let ya know ------------------ C-ya Joe - Owner/Editor www.ProCooling.com Where the Completely Addicted Come to Cool Off Somebody set up us the bomb. |
