Is Super Orb enough to cool 1.2 GHz T-bird
Under a full load the CPU temp peaks at about 65 degrees Celsius. Is this bad?
I am using an AOpen HX08 Case with a KT7A raid motherboard and two 80mm case fans. Should I create a blow hole in the case. Fans in a blow hole blow air in right? |

ouch...65C?? That's bad.
I would get a global WinFOP38 (pretty loud cooler) or a vantec socket A with delta fan cooling setup. I initially ran my 1.0G tbird with a thermaltake orb at 55-60C....then i upgraded to a fop38 and dropped my temps to 40C...much better. Then when prices dropped on cpus...i say "screw it" and bought a 1.2 tbird. It hits 42-43C at full load iwth my fop38....i changed it out for the vantec cooler (much easier fastening clip imho) and the temps are similar. The vantec cooler might be a few decibles quieter....i can't really tell. Both coolers are around $20-$25. Well worth it as running your cpu at a cooler temp will not only prolong its lifespan, but will allow you to overclock should you choose to venture down that road ------------------ 1.2Tbird @1456 with winter air cooling...yeah baby! |

The Taisol Forged is the bomb diggity in my opinion. No ear shattering fan, but damn good cooling. If you want the best combo of performance, buy a volcano II and take the fan off, then put it on the Taisol. 36 cfm coolin' and quiet to boot. I like my PAL6035 myself.

Yeah... I'm a fan of that Taisol too... best socket A mounting system i've seen.
