The Scythe SCKTN-1000 Katana

After seeing the VapoChill Micro ThermoSiphon roll out this past summer, Scythe has started out recently in Asia with the Katana 1000.

Basically, it's the same foot-print as the Micro, but in a heat-pipe kind of way.

Performance? I can't read Asian script.

The only English I've found is:

CPU: Intel 370/478/775/ all Xeon's, AMD 462/754/939/940.
Heat-pipe fin area: 98x96x130 (very much the same as Micro)
Fan: 92x92x25 / 2000rpm / 25dBA / 35.12CFM (like the Micro)
Weight: 300g (55g less than Micro)

Price: 2,800 Yen / $30 Euro / $33USD

Only time will tell if this product is successful and comes to the shores of North America.

$33.00 US seems good if its a solid product

I order R/C stuff from Hong Kong and Tokyo all the time, its not hard to get stuff from Asia over here.

Any word on the copper version's performance? I've seen few reviews sofar on it. Performance seems very good though.

This one actually performs pretty impressive. I am using the Al version in my 2.3G 3200+ with a 1500 rpm fan.

Since the fin gaps are wider than SI/XP series HSF, this one would perform way better when combine with slower fan.

It's nice a lightweight, and since you can mount it in any direction, you angle it up to take better advantage of the heatpipes. I really think that makes a difference. Great product for the price.

I'd like to see test on the copper version and how mounting in different directions influences cooling capacity.
