Max weight to ASTE hsf on gpu
Simple question.
If I where to ASTE a heatsink onto my radeon 8500, would 170 grams be too much for just epoxy and no screws? |

DarthWombat:
It would probably hold, but I would use some zip-ties just to make sure something doesnt knock it off I had a Thermatake Golden Orb epoxied to a GF3 at one time with a twist-tie making sure that it didnt move and it worked great. If you want some pictures, I can post them.

Why do you have to drill into the heatsink? Just use zip ties and go around the outside of the board.

Why not get a more "decent" cooler, like an Akasa 350 or 360, ou even a Spark 5. They're alot better and have a very low profile.

That Celeron HSF should be more than enough for what he is wanting to do.......I dont see a reason to go out and get a new one. He will max out the core before it will over-heat. Of course, this will not be the case if he uses a pelt or severly Vmods the core either....
