Default Active Directory on SnapServer 4200 GuardianOS 5.2

Hi all,

Great forum! We have a SnapServer 4200 running GuardianOS 5.2.056 SP1. I have it connected to our domain active directory to allow access.

Lately, after about a days use, the server no longer accepts the active directory users. I can still log on via FTP but AD log on does not work. I then go in to the administration tools and turn off SMB then turn it back on, adding it back to domain using designated user/pass with access to do so. This resolves the problem and everyone can log back on again without problem until the next day or so.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help!

Mike

It is Windows Server 2003.

I used SSH and went to osshell to rm the entire samba directory and restart. This essentially does the same thing as turning it on/off from Snap Server administration. It works for about a day then no one can log in.

Thanks!
Mike

Yep, you got it. As I mentioned, doing this had the same effect as turning Samba on/off form the Snap Server Administration. Now I'm out of idea's. The AD in general works fine, we have several computers connected to it and all users can easily connect/disconnect to their user profiles.

OK, I purposely changed my IP/Domain/Server names since this feels slightly like posting my social security number on the internet Thanks for your help!

Hey Will,

Thank you for taking a look. In that particular case you have quoted, you are correct, I accidentally put the server name and not my domain name. However, I don't think replacing my IP, Server Name, and Domain name with consistent replacements effect the data in any way that you can't interpret it. I would be impressed if you could really figure all of that out, up for the challenge? Obviously where I am from (Columbia U) and what I am doing (setting up a file server) is pretty obvious.

Anyways, if anyone else has any idea's why the AD would cut out after a day of use I am still looking for help!

Thanks,
Mike
