newbie here
i'm planning to get a 80watt pelt
this is the spec of it. Imax = 8.0 Amps Qmax = 80.0 Watts Vmax = 16.1 Volts Delta Tmax = 71 (C) Size = 40mm X 40mm X 3.4mm. i have a qnes though, can i run it at half power?... if so how do i do it?.. and im guessing if i run a half, i don't need to insulate?. thanks all for replying |

Re: newbie here
DONT DO THAT!!!!
What you will do is overload the peltier giving a postive Dt meaning it will make your CPU hotter then with out it. If you dont want to insulate then dont use pelts, they are best used to give sub ambient temps, and if they are used in above ambient applications then they are better off not used. |

Re: newbie here
A pelt could give a great increase in above ambient temps. You need to keep any temps above the dew point of air (point where water drops out of the air). A simple circuit could do this with ease.
There was a cpu cooler that did this (http://www.silentpcreview.com/article155-page4.html). If you were attempting to this, buying that and then attaching a cooling kit might be the best option. Either way using the circuitry on that could be very useful. You are still going to be very very careful though. The 28c is probably a little high. If you used a dehumidifier in the same room, very low temps should be possible but it would need some hacking. |
