Northbridge Cooling, Passive w/ a Swifty Block?

i was cooling the NB w/ water but concensus here says it's a waste
i did it because my NB was actively cooled and i could get rid of another fan
i have since reconsidered

so

will a Swiftech MCX462-U Heat Sink cut down to a little larger than a MCX159-P Chipset Heatsink cool my NB passively?

i got a MCX462 off ebay a while ago for $6 (poor sap didn't know what he was selling) so i'm planning on cutting it up. it's 3"W x 3"L and the MCX159 is 1.59"L x 1.59"W
i should be able to fit at least 2" by 2" on my board - maybe a little more

will this cool the NB of a Abit IC7-G? currently no oc
can it do it passively? or can you suggest a VERY quiet fan in the 50mm to 60mm size range?
it would be nice if it was quiet at full voltage so i could plug it into the NB fan header on the MB

i cut the block up today. it's about 2" by 2.25"
anyone have mounting ideas?
i have those dumb hooks that intel uses
you can see what i did for my old waterblock (barely)
i cut hooks into the bottom of the screws, then turning the wing nuts
tightens the block to the board
it worked pretty well

i was thinking that i could attach little wings to the corners of the block like swiftech does on the AMD version, then use my hooks to hold it down
anyone have a better idea? or an easier solution?
should i use a shim?

Use some anti crush pads on the NB just to be safe. As to mounting: if you can use the stock intel hooks as that would take the least amount of time. Look at swfitech's mounting mechanism for intel nbs: copy that if you can.

where could i find anti crush pads?
any household item i could use?
any idea how tall the die is on a 975 NB?

i cut the block down to 47x54mm
it fits very snugly in between the hoops
wimped out on mounting the block though and bought the swiftech mounting kit from sidewinder (kudos for fast shipping)
why does the kit come with 2 springs that are identical?
i had to bend the one very carefully to make it work on the 2nd pair of hoops

also included a pick of the internals of the swifty blocks
seems the pins are just pushed into predrilled holes in the copper
still pretty cool
