Iscsi Initiator
Owner of SNAP 4500 with GOS 5.2.056, I wish to install one iscsi initiator in order to connect synology diskserver now available with huge disk capacity and preinstalled iscsi-target capability.
Has anybody already tried to do this ? Can you confirm the gos / redhat (version?) compatibility ? Thanks for all brain damages. :-) GP |

Re: Iscsi Initiator
I am not sure what your are trying to do here
Are you wanting to connect one client computer ( initiator ) with both the synology disk and the snap server?? then yes If you are trying to use the Snap as the initiator to the synology then no it can only work as a target. Last edited by eschw95458; 04-24-2013 at 11:11 PM. |

Re: Iscsi Initiator
The idea was to use the synology's disks (or volumes ..) viewed directly as iscsci disks by the GOS of the 4500.
You are completly right: the iscsi-target feature is natively included with the GOS but not the initiator. This was why I wanted to know if anybody had already ADDED the iscsi initiator to a GOS which seems to be derived from redhat. GP |

Re: Iscsi Initiator
I would love to hear from anybody who has been able to install anything in GOS.
I have been trying to look at updating netatalk in GOS, and here is what I believe ( I am no linux guru so this is just my opinion ) I think at one time GOS was based on red hat, but with the version you are using, I believe it is based on Suse ( and again my best guess ) enterprise server version 10.1. It looks like you should be theoretically able to install rpms into the os, but GOS has been stripped of its compiler and any update components such as yast2, rug, and smart. Hopefully there are some smart linux people out there that can help us out. |

Re: Iscsi Initiator
Thanks for your reply,
you have precisely pointed where I am stucked... Perhaps a linux guru would be interested by the challenge ? My GOS version is 5.2.067 just in case. GP |
