Distributed Folding forum???

What happened to the Distributed Folding Team forum? I finally get around to switching over to procooling's team to find the forum is gone.

The stats have just got reset back to ZERO, there is a new client (phase 2 of the project), and now is a very good time to get people crunching for the team!

Click the link in my sig to go to the teams stats page.

I hear ya... If no one else wants it back open then maybe we can at least make a sticky thread about it. I will make a thread up of all relevant info and it can be stuck if it comes to that. If the forum does open again I will keep things updated in there and try to keep people motivated to post there and try to gain some team members. I am done with amdmb's teams now so I have the time.

I'll do it, I think it's cool and I need a screen saver anyway... If my monitor shuts off while my screen saver is running, will it kill the program? I have my monitor at a 20 minute shut off, but screen saver at 5 mins.

Like I said, I'd be glad to do it. I have a 2 gig proc and I wanna help! I leave it idle for hours on end too.

Seems as if their server is down at the moment. If they are not up soon I will load up the text client for download when I get home.

Ugh, I didn't realize it had all reset and stuff. It's been running 24/7 on my work PC for months and months as a NT service and I didn't know till I read this and checked it that it wasn't working (it was still using 100% cpu, but it was doing nothing)

Anyways, setting it back up again now here at work, and will get my new 2500+ at home working some of the time. And I should be able to get the new web-server I'm building for the RSX club of Alberta folding during it's spare time too.

Their server is back up and running now. You don't have to host anymore if you don't want to.

I have run SETI for years for AMDMB.com untill I discovered how much a waste of time, money, and power it is. After crunching almost 5,000units and spending countless $'s on equipment and powers bills enough is enough. The units get crunched 12 times each and only 3 of the units are kept for anylization. And those are usually disgarded as usless. SETI 2 and Astropulse look better, but still. Woopeteedoo. Even if they find something relevant it will take hundreds of years to do anything about it. By then we will not have needed SETI at all. Waste of time. Better off giving money to NASA for their real explorations of other planets.

I would rather crunch for something that might help in the near future. Maybe even my or my kids lifetime. D.F. has that potential and the client is better than the other Folding projects.

never really though of it that way, you're probably right.

i wouldn't mind getting into the folding stuff... i think it's a good idea. i'll check it out, i always wanted to do folding as well, but never knew where to find it. for some reason i violated my own rules and didn't ask google. i'll check it out
