Default using lacqer paint on mobo

is it ok to use a lacquer-based plastic model overcoat (like testors, tamiya, etc.) to water proof a mobo?

Many paints are conductive. Would check to make sure it is not first.

There are lacquers that are specifically made for coating circuit boards. Look at some of the procooling TEC articles.

i tried using Tamiya TS-13 Clear Lacquer for plastics and it worked. I picked up the stuff @ a local hobby store (Hobby Town USA).

Great! I hope it doesn't interact with the board in any way or flake off later due to thermal cycling. On the other hand, long before it degrades you'll want a new mobo anyway.
