Default AQX 50Z / MCP rev2 questions

Hi all,

I'm running two of these in series @ 13.8v and have some questions:

1) Is it safe to take the front housing off to clean / inspect them?

2) I understand they are mag-drive, so should they be on 24/7 rather than switching on and off with the PC?

3) Are replacement parts (like a new impeller) available and if so, is there a rule of thumb with maintenance (i.e. every 10,000 miles )

Many thanks!

you should be safe taking them apart but i would avoid doing so unless necessary if you do take one apart, be sure to torque the screws as equally as possible (use a torque wrench)

they have a given life span, but i wouldn't cycle them more than once a day (on in the morning, off at night) of course i cycle my pump and pc about once a month...

not sure on replacement parts but mag drive is maintenance free

be sure to leak test...

Thanks.

One other question:

When running them in series, how much distance should I have between them? I currently have them connected with a very short piece of tubing such that the barbs are touching. Would it be better / worse to have a longer piece of tubing connecting them?

The turbulence from the first pump can't be a good thing. If you have a Res, putting that in between would be a safe bet.

It's nit picking, I think, but you could put a 2" "stilling well" (made from PVC tubing) between the pumps.

That's a great idea, thanks!

I've already made a res / air-bleed system from 40mm PVC tubing, so a stilling well sounds just the ticket.
