Heatsink/ Heat Pipe / ThermoSiphon Cooling The cat will only make the mistake of putting its paw by your HSF once. :) Also the place to discuss the new high end heat pipe goodness.

Default Are Slot 1 and FC-PGA The Same?

Hiya,

Are the Slot one and FC-PGA Processors the same? As a few sites seem to have got the 2 confused :S?

FC-PGA (flip chip pin grid array) is a flip chip like Current P4 and AMD CPU's, Slot 1 fits in the the slot like a PCI slot.

FCPGA is a packaging technology. Slot-1 is a CPU form factor. The two things are not directly comparable like that.

I think what you may be getting at is that Slot-1 and Socket370 are electrically compatible (remember the slockets?), and many Socket370 processors are shipped in a FCPGA package. An AthlonXP is also a FCPGA packaged chip though, and is about as far from compatible with either Socket370 or Slot-1 as you can get.

Tis true An AMD cpu may use the fcpga technology, But I'd love to see an athlon work in an intel motherboard and It isn't going to happen, Both use different buses AMD uses the EV6 bus and the Intels use the P6 Bus(Or whatever It's called), Code wise to a point (AMD Athlon64 cpus have SSE2, AMD XP cpus don't) they are compatible with Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, etc.
