For first there was the RPC exploit (this one scares the shit outta me):
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tre...n/MS03-026.asp A quote from someone affected: "4000 computers on campus here were already hacked and they left ftp servers listening to different ports on the computers." Yikes. and now there is a new worm that has no current fix (well other than to block .zip at the gateway): http://securityresponse.symantec.com...mail.a@mm.html I just wondered if anyone is pulling hair out today. For reference, I am surfing the web from my living room couch in my boxers and about to take a shower and start my day (it's 1:30pm) |

Yup this confirms it: http://www.securityfocus.com/news/6603
That is what I got.... It sent an e-mail from admin@customcooledpc.com (which doesn't exist, it's my god damn site!) to the address I use on these forums. How it found the address I use on these forums is a little mystery. I suspect some member has my addy in their list and they got the virus etc.... Norton didn't find jack so I was dumb enough to open it. Anyway I reloaded WinBlows XP on that comp and all is better than before. Needed reloading anyway. They hid the virus in an HTML file which I didn't even think about it being a virus. Sure enough though. |
