How can I do this? I am having a "pump station" and in it, I have its own dedicated power supply. I want to take one of the 4pin molex connector (12 volts?) and I want to make it only output around 2, no more than 2.2. I want to do thihs because I want a dedicated LED line. Does anybody know how to do this, or know what im talking about? I know there are kits I can buy that will do this for me.. but the only one I foudn is $20, and I dont want to really spend hte money on something I could probally do myself for $5. Thanks in advanced.

It would be easier would be to use the 3.3 volt lines. Connect two rectifier diodes (5 watts or better, voltage rating irrelevant) in series with your LEDs. That'll give you 2.0 to 2.1 volts to power as many LEDs as you want.

where can I get rectifier diodes? you culdnt give me more info.. Ive never done this before, im a first time mod/water cooler. I know a fair amout about eletricity, (enough not to get eletricuted) but i can connected those things if i have a lil bit more info. The gnd wire is black, and 3.3 volt line is the one that goes to the floopy? if so, is it the red or yellow one, or are they the same? and i couldnt get these rectifier diodes at radio shack could I? |

Do you have specific LEDs you plan to use? When you said 2 V, I assumed you did. But now that I realize you're a water and modding virgin....
Different colors and types of LEDs need different voltages. Check your LEDs - what voltage and current is listed? Yup, those Radio Shack diodes are great. The 3.3 V line is the orange wires on the ATX connector. The four-pin floppy and hard drive connectors don't include 3.3 V. Ground is the black wires. |

If you look around at Radio Shack they have LED's that will work off of 12 volts. No modding needed.
