You can always install newer HD's and replace the fan every 3-5yrs like I do on mine. One thing that cause problems is power cycling the units all the time. These units are design to run 24/7, power cycling takes a hit on the power supply and system. But if you move to a newer OS (>XP) you may be forced to anyway. My 2200 has only been turned off once in 3 yrs. And that was due to an extended power outage, transformer blew up at the switch yard. My APC SmartUPS 1500va powered all my hardware down when the battery life was at 2 min left. Then powered most every thing backup when power was restored.
