well if you're down from 10 mill per update to 3 mill, why not 500k in the future?
Long term users are rare...

First thing, the 129 is 40% slower then the one (105) we had when we were on stampede so it would actually be 5 mill per update.
Second, as I posted here before we are pretty big in DC and a lot of (new) members staid after the stampede purely to boost the cows to the nr1 spot.
Third, it is a 58!!! So start wetting your panties because we will crush ARS and DC and leave you coughing in our dust

Cowsharks on the move

Don´t criticise the cow until You´ve milked her
(I grew up in a small village, OK?)
Well, from tasteless to topic: Anyone else having trouble uploading today?
I´ve got 67 sets waiting to come home.
regards
Mikael S.

edit: Spelling + sets, generations whatever... Sloooow uploading today. Darn

Over here something weird is happening, the foldtrajlite process is running but is not occupying a 100% CPU at all times as usual (you can check this with ctrl-alt-delete). Now most of the time is sitting there cluncking at 5%. This never happened before.

This makes me think that there may be something wrong with the program itself. Any one experiencing this?

I have about 10 clients that have over 100 gens buffered and they wont upload, wondering if the mix of old gens and new gens is screwing it up? hate to call a loss on 10,000 gens

CPU usage drops to almost nothing while uploading filesets.
I don´t get this. My client just uploaded 2 filesets then went back to folding with 25 filesets buffered. Confusing

The problem is the server isn't working right. it is trying to upload but it is taking FOREVER so the CPU usage is low. Go no net untill they get the server fixed.

Default What does this means??

I get the following error when restarting the client, asides from saying the FTP server is not responding:

"[NULL_Caption] FATAL ERROR: [002.003] Unable to read trajectory distribution my-handle_protein_241, please create a new one
Hit Return"

Any ideas?

Don't know. Check the DF forums and see if anyone else has the problem.

Thxs, the "no net" setting got client working 100% again.

I've also been getting a lot of that. For now, I've been backing up the directory and starting over. Once the server performance issues seem to be ironed out, I'll upload from the backups.

I also noticed that foldtrajlite is spawning children, and children-of-children on my Linux boxes. Has anyone else noticed this?
(Yes, there should be two parent processes. DP machine. )

rburgess@nas:~> ps -aH
PID TTY TIME CMD
8621 pts/1 00:00:00 ps
8500 pts/1 00:08:54 foldtrajlite
8502 pts/1 00:00:00 __foldtrajlite
8619 pts/1 00:00:04 ____foldtrajlite
8495 pts/1 00:09:49 foldtrajlite
8508 pts/1 00:00:00 __foldtrajlite

If running foldtrajlite on a Muti-Processor (MP) machine w/ Linux OS, you have to set the enviroment variable "DFPTEMP" so the processes do not step on each other's toes. Perhaps this may be what is occurring in your case.

set DFPTEMP=/path/distribfold_1/TEMP

set DFPTEMP=/path/distribfold_2/TEMP

Above settings included in two (foldit) scripts that start 2 foldtrajlite, each in its own directory.

Dyyryath's Arachnid Stats are gone! How will I survive without constantly looking at the folding stats?

And what's up with Joe (and the rest of the slackers)? A protein this fast shouldn't be wasted.

Not a dumb question, it's just that most people are out partying - not many folk here to reply to you on a Saturday night.

Folding, as in protein folding. We're crunching numbers for a distributed computing project that is attempting to bridge the gap between the the recently sequenced genome and the poorly documented world of proteins.

If you check in the sign-up thread, you'll find a link to the project homepage which has all the scientific details.
