If you can get a 12VDC pump like DangerDen, Swiftek, etc..., you can get rid of the pump relay.
As for the heatercore, that should not be fourty pounds! It should be more like ten to fifteen pounds, if costs for car parts are anywhere similar to US costs. I can buy a heatercore for $25 in the US. Is it that much more expensive in the UK to buy car parts plus some epoxy to add brass barbed fittings? BTW, I am not very familiar with UK suppliers, so please forgive any ignorance. The only UK supplier I know of is Pug, and I've never actually perused his price lists. |

The only copper/brass cores that i have found in the uk are those In the vauxhall astra, nova and corsa. They are the same basic design as an american core but the tubes exit in the wrong place and they are quite a bit bigger and harder to fit into your case without alot of modding and lost drive bays. You can forget buying a new heatercore over here tho as its cheaper to import the correct ones from the US. This is the kind of thing we have to put up with in England all the time flatline- why dont you get a dangerden 12v pump? the money you save from not having to buy a relay will make up the differance and a dd12v will give you a huge increce in performance. slater.. |

What kind of prices do you pay for a heater core + import duty slater?
I've been scouring car parts sites over here and they're charging about £35 for an Astra Heater Matrix ![]() You americans really have got it good when it comes to water cooling on the cheap!

Personaly ive never imported a core myself. I normaly mod old vauxhall cores. As far as the Vauxhall cores go the corsa and nova cores are then best. they will fit in a Cheiftec dragon with only a little modding of both core and case. IIRC the only differance between the corsa and nova is the shape of the tubes which does not relly matter as you have to cut them off to fit anyway. The Astra cores are slightly bigger but you can just about squeeze them into a cheiftech (i run 2x astra cores in my current project) Never used a cavalier core myself. What are the dimensions? it looks to me like the same size as a astra but the tanks are a bit differant. slater.. ps. heres some pics of the Astra cores in developement. ![]() Last edited by SlaterSpeed; 08-18-2004 at 03:02 PM. |

Thanks for the help mate, I'm still pondering whether or not to get an astra core and mount it at the front of my case, or get a dual heatercore and mount it externally on top of my case. Life is full of such taxing decisions

Heres some pics of my southbridge and mosfet blocks. Im currently working on some new northbridge designs. One is just a bigger version of the southbridge block for low restriction. The other is more complex with micro channels and such for better cooling but more restrictive. Work is on hold atm cous im waiting for some brass to be delivered
