The SLK-800 does seem to be the pinnacle of aircooling, but the AX-7 and the PAL8045 are good too. I have one of the latter, and although it is a pain to mount, once it's on there, it's not going anywhere.

Arrrrr, I hate it when people use my computer and mess around with stuff I'm looking at. I leave my g/f inside my room alone for a few minutes and she goes and does this sh!t...I'm gonna get her back later tonight though.

BigBen2k, that's a probably the biggest h/f I've seen yet. Wonder how much air flow that fan has (as well as noise)???

But seriously, I'm newbie to watercooling and I've been browsing this forum for about 2 weeks now and have found it very informative.
I have started to order my parts and currently I have a '98? Ford Mustang Heater core and I have the Unablock and Via 1300 on the way. I will use tupperware for a reservior and run the water pump submerged (read somewhere that Via's are designed to be submerged???) I will try to fit the biggest hoses possible but I'll have to wait until all the parts are in and I will use Purple Ice in the distilled water. As for the fan, an 80mm (with cardboard shroud) will have to do until I can spare money for 2 panaflos...I know, I know, not too great of a setup, but this is my first build up and I just wanna see the results (has to be better than my Alpha PAL6035 w/ 5k fan cooling a Morgan 1.0Ghz @ 1.05Ghz). Also, I'm on a college budget and peace and quiet is a greater concern than o/c ability (for now).
Well, this was longer than I expected it to be but any opinions on my first w/c setup?

Caught me napping either way...didn't notice it was under liquid/phase change cooling.

Ok, for quiet operation, I used a few generic super quiet 80mm case fans on my heater core. Couldn't really notice them at 12v, and had to look at them to make sure they were on at 7v.

and your g/f is awfuly concerned about size it seems...

Just go get #ROTO'S Big Brother H2O chiller a nd quit messing around with all this rad. crap and get with the cooling. Just my $5,000,000.00 worth.

It's a start!, I'm in pretty much the same situation, cept' I have a Maze3:1 and the Rad's out of a Vauxhal Cavalier (I live in England

). I'm lucky enough to have three 92mm panaflos lying around, one of which is a high volume jobbie. oh!, I got the Ehiem1250 as well.

I don't like Tupperware!!, it's too flimsy IMO. have you seen the large acrylic/plastic 'preserve/pickle jars you can get?. they have a metal clamping latch and an airtight seal. easy to drill and seal

Or you could use an outdoor electrical junction box, again totaly watertight and easy to work plastic

Hey, I was just toying with you: you asked for the biggest cooler, not the best performer. Gotcha, hook line and sinker.

If your rad is copper, then you'll be fighting galvanic corrosion, so the purple ice will do you good. Sounds to me like you're all setup. To help quiet things down, I'd consider a rheobus: since you're in college, i'm sure you can find a lab and/or geek that'll fix you up.

The Unablock is OK, but it will need a lot of flow to work well. If one Via pump doesn't do it, you might have to pick up a second one. Let us know how it works out.
