Well, that's not so terrible, that air can still hold 25% more water.

That means that convection is going to take most of the cooling job. As in a common heatsink, airflow speed is going to be the key factor in your bong performance. Still this can be an interesting experiment, as you could measure the water loss on different days with different ambient humidity, and determine the efficiency relationship.

According to an excel spreadshet I have, one liter of evaporation in an hour takes 627 watts. So just knowing the total heat input and water loss per hour, is easy to know what percentage of the total cooling is from evaporation.

our next problem; we have an AT power supply, but when we disconnect the pins from the mother board, the power supply switches off.
Do we need to short two pins for the power supply to work, or we have to carry the mother board with us so that the power supply works??

I think that AT psu's work fine without connection to mobo. At least my two do. Are you sure it's an AT psu? It should have mains switch to power it on, and easiest to tell is by looking at the mobo connectors?

Yeah if it is an AT supply it will have 2 connectors going to the mobo, if it is ATX it will only have one. If it is ATX there is a wire to jump on the main connector. Green comes to mind but you need to check into that. I have done it before so I know it works.

The real problem is this. When I plug only one connector to the mobo, the psu starts, when I connect only the other connector to the mobo, it works as well, but when I unplug them both, it fan turns for only a few milli seconds and then stops. I tried to put a load on one of the connectors that suppose to be connected to the mobo, of course i did not put a load on all of the pins, but it didn't work

I have to make it work in some way because we need it to power up the fans for our bongs and i don't know where is the problem yet

Any help pls

This is the boiler (thermal simulator) made by Balinju's dad. It has a 1000 W heater element inside. It is all made out of stainless steel.

You'll have to run a leak test (preferably outside, unless you don't mind wet carpet!). Test with the shower heads on.

Hi there, we did not post for quite some time, not because we gave up, but because we very working very very ... very hard.

So here is a sum-up of what we did till now: The thermal simulator is ready, and to assist it, we built up a box with an ammeter, a voltmeter and a dimmer to vary and calculate the power that the element that is dissipats in the water.

We also ran a leak test. The whole project is nearly leak proof, there are some drops that appear every once in a while at the bottom of the bongs, but we will fix this with some silicon when the leak test is ready (btw we are running a test at this very moment).

the only results that we can give you at the moment is that with the element set at 1kw, the amient temperature is around 13 degrees celcius, the water temperature is around 20 degrees celcius, quite a good temperature no??

The height of the bongs is around 2m each and we have 4 bongs, 4 fans that blow around 84cfm and a 400 w pump with 35 m head.

Here follow some pictures of the project till now. the only missing part is the computer because the machinist is too occupied to drill the o-ring groove for us

that's a pressure gauge. its there just in case that the pressure inside the thermal simulator rises too much so that we could know before some hears a boom
