Default OMG WhiteWater is sooo nice

My old setup got an update. See This link for my old rig I got a P4 2.0a from a friend for free so I purchased an Asus P4P800-Deluxe, 512mb PC3500 and an Allied 400W PSU (don't buy fans are loud). I then purchased a p4 White Water from Dtek. THIS THING ROCKS!! I can't believe the temps I'm getting. I've got a DD5 sensor mounted to the side of the heat spreader and I'm assuming the Asus board reports the internal temp from the CPU rather than from a probe. Is this correct? I didn't see a thermal sensor in the cpu socket. Below is run down of the setup and temps. I haven't had much time to test after setting up so I haven't pushed the cpu as high as it can go.

Forgot to mention the 2.0a does 2.6 nicely @ default voltage. It'll almost get into Windows @ 2.8, but it crashes during logon. I'll have to change my sig now

that is a very decent overclock dude. sure it's not your memory crapping out?

It could be. The Asus board has a ton of settings and some are kind of strange or rather I haven't learned them all. When I got the processor to 2.6 I used an auto setting for memory of rather for the whole overclock. The board has a % overclock setting. Setting it to 30% renders a CPU speed of 2.6 with a mem speed of 433mhz (I think I'm at work at the moment but I can check when i get home). It was either 433 or 418, 420, something in that area. My first attempt at 2.8 I had memory settings set to auto which caused a crash when the Windows XP splash screen appeared. Setting the memory to a manual setting, which I don't recall right now (i think 333) got me to the login screen but crashed when I attempted to login. 2.6 is still fine by me, much faster than the old box. Of course I will continue to experiment when I get more time. Thanks for the comments

AFAIK, the P4P800-Deluxe reads some socket thermistor and NOT the on die reading. The Asus P4 boards are known for reading temps VERY low, bordering rediculous actually. I've seen some aircoolers with a mobo temp lower than the CPU temp

Yeah, the thermiresistor reads about 1-2c less than the on die sensor on teh CPU if I'm reading these mbm temps correctly...

Don't use auto-overclock, by setting your own values you can increase preformance by a lot

would the setting in MBM be an indication? The CPU is reading on WinBond 2 Diode. I think you guys are right though, because the CPU temp is not the same in MBM and from the DD5 sensor. And, the DD5 sensor is adhered to the edge of the heat spreader. Right now I get 74.4 from DD5 and 71 from the Asus Probe and MBM. There is a little black box type thing in the socket. Ambient is 70.5 and water is 74.1. I think I'll have time to try oc'n a little more tonight or tommorw. Whish me luck, I would be pretty impressed if I could get it to hit 3 or close. Thanks for the comments all.
