Welcome to the team Cap'n!

In Jaydee's thread on setting it up there is info on how to do the text client. Runs in the background and uses available cycles, it defers to other programs you may need to run.

I run the text client and it works well.

OK I got the text version workin now.

I unzipped the download into the same folder the screensaver version is in...but i did not overwrite any files. When that was done I fired up the text version and it already knew my handle and continued on working from where the screensaver version left off

The screensaver version is nicer to watch however

Good job Cap'n!

One thing I neglected to mention before that can also add to your output. When you were setting up did you answer yes to the question regarding use of up to 150mg of RAM? This won't make it hog resourses, just allows it to run at max speed if your system isn't making other use of that amount of RAM. I see no differance in how any of my programs run with the text client running in the background.

You can see the differance one way, after a long gaming run, look at your DF stats for that time period. They will be lower during the time you were making heavy use of the systems power. Same thing when I do photo work, just not as large a differance as with gaming. Other programs and uses I do, don't seem to slow the client down, the system can do both without the client slowing down.

CRAP!

The cows now have 319 members running. They're pumping out 200K more than Free DC is.

Not only are they catching us fast, they'll be in thrid shortly at the rate they are running.

Even with Joe's resourses, kind of tough to beat the whole country, and it looks like they are signing up the whole countrys puter guys.

**** I would need to load every machine I have at my disposal to beat them. I am pondering just to give them some competition next week once I know the new client is stable, adding on another 100 or so.

Wow imagex sure went by me at a fast pace. I think Ardil will also pass me soon. My 2 little computers (1.333 and 1.533 GHx) just can’t keep up.

I don’t mind though. In fact I would be happy if everyone passed me at my current output rate. The more points for the team the better.

If I want to get 2 PCs folding do I use the same handle ID on both? Will that cause problems?

They way they're coming out of the woodwork, I suspect we're actually fighting Dutch Power Cockroaches. Just when you think you've stomped them all, 200 more appear.

FuzzyFace - sounds like a good reason to upgrage! And then you get to have new cooling gear, too!

Groth - I live of off SS and can’t afford to upgrade at this time. Maybe in a year or two when the new tech has settled down a bit.

We are not really fighting them, we are about to be steam rolled by them.

Good plan, go do that, right now Boli. I'd do it myself, but I'm allergic to wooden shoes. With half their country below sea-level, they should appreciate our devotion to water.

The real question is how strong is the Power Cows staying power? The vast majority of that team has appeared in the last 7-10 days. But how many will stay on long term? Unless a large number of them will they won't be able to hold a much higer place than they are at now.

Will be interesting to see how this goes.

And in the mean time a lot of folding is getting done per day.

I have to wonder if the DF server is going into melt down with the boost in folding that's hit in the last week.

The Good news and the Bad news.

Bad news is we are going to get stomped, probably tomorrow, into 6th place.

Good news is even without Joe's work farm we are still crunching in the top 10 and should have no problem holding 6 without Joe's farm for a long time. But with Joe's farm we might be able to take a spot or 2.

To bad we can't recruit lemonqueeze from sunmicrosystems!

- I got my PC (Barton @ 2442mhz) folding 24/7

- I got my mom's 1700+ PC folding (whenever its on)

- I got my sister's P4 2.66 PC folding (whenever its on)

- I got my ex-boss to run it on his PC (but he knows enough to be able to disable it so who knows how much its getting ran)

- I have a friend who is willing to help but he still needs to get the program (im workin on that)

- I might have enough spare parts for a "desktop" system - if so it will be folding

Now we neeed another 1500 computers and we can compete with the Dutch.

Sarcasm aside, tear it up. What we do today may put us in the lead tomorrow.

See this is clearly a coordinated attach on DF teams. they are up to 400 people almost on their team now.
