Snap 4200 cannot get admin reset
So I had a drive fail in my snap 4200. Replaced the drive and decided to do a hard reset on it, but now admin doesn't work as a password and neither does my old admin password. Also, if i hit the reset button, it never goes into maint. mode... any help? Overland is useless, posted a support case 4 days ago and they haven't responded yet... (yes i pay for support)

Ride OVERLAND, go up the chain to higher management. Or call sells and get them to patch you through someone that can help you.
Have you tried using a null modem cable to connect to the 4200? this normally gives more info as what is going on.....

Re: Snap 4200 cannot get admin reset
haven't tried the serial cable route yet, but I am going to call Overland today. Just didn't know if you guys had any ideas. We are looking at seeing if they will refund some of the support if we cancel it.

Re: Snap 4200 cannot get admin reset
I went the serial cable route, and aparently when the grub screen shows on the snap monitor, you can interrupt it on the serial console, and select option 4 to put it in maintenance mode. Then you can go in an reload the os. This fixed my problems...
On a side note, does anyone know if the 4200 is flash based? |

Re: Snap 4200 cannot get admin reset
The OS resides on the HD's. So NO its not flash based.
The BIOS is a watchdog type.

Re: Snap 4200 cannot get admin reset
The 4200 will accept the 500gig ATA HD, the limit is the interface. I do not know if a larger has been released yet. All of the higher capacity HD are SATA. What ever you go with the Interprise HD by WD is what I use in mine. They are design for server usage, 24/7 operartion and come with a 5 yr warranty.
