Drive 1 is not even showing up, ID 10000. It has failed. So you will need to replace it. As for what LCD do you have. 2200 do not have LCD displays. Instruction is the FAQ's on how to do it.

You will not be able to recover anything from drive 1. Your only option is a recovery service since you were not in RAID1. Now you have learned a hard lesson on why backups are still required. If you were in RAID 1 (Mirror) you would not have lost any data. This is the primary reason person buy the 2200 is for it's raid 1 function.

Open the unit up and confirm that both drive are the same MFG, model, and firmware. If by chance you have Maxtors, you need to get a new set of drives (2). And DO NOT BUY MAXTOR, these have the highest failure rate in the industry. I have seen maxtors fail with in days of each other. If this is the case you need to backup your currently working drive, immediately.

Once you have your current data backed up you may be able to swap controller cards and get it up, if drives were identical. But if its a media failure recovery service is your only option. If media problem you can try SpinRite by GRC. Sometimes it works sometimes not. But in any case I recommend you run it on your new drives. Mfg no longer check media for defects and rely on the SMART system to allocate spares. If in raid this can fail a drive if the response took to long.

Just install it it will auto format.

Once it's formated, and you want to set the snap in RAID1 mode (mirror), you will need your drive with data in drive 1 position (10000).

What brand drive was in it? SnapAppliance use to use WD and Hatichi. When Adaptec bought them out they started installing cheap Maxtors. I have gotten some bad from the start. I use interprise drives (raid edition) where I can, they are design for 24/7 operation.

I would make a image file if you do not have one, but wait till you install the new drive. Then copy the clean drive.

Drive 1 - Seagate works
Drive 2 - Platinum LCD FAILED DISK1

You said put new hard drive it will auto format itself? Do you think I could take Platinum hard drive to snap data recovery to get old files back? I don't see RAID1 in snap2200 settings. I do see share1 and share2 from disk utilities.

Have you replaced the HD yet?

If you need to send your failed drive to a recovery service send me a PM and I can get you to someone that specilizes in SnapOS file structures.

Under "disk utilities/ configure disk " is where you setup RAID1. You will have to have your good disk in Drive 1 position. Other wise it will wipe it clean. Drive 1 is Mirrored to Drive 2

The snap os uses an odd ball file structure that nothing but another snap can inturpet. It all depends on what has happened to the drive, whether media or system board failure. As to any that has worked. this gets in to a very big IF. If a utility fails, it corrupts the hd more. So if your convinced that you must have the data, NO NOT use any utilities. Now after you get your price quote and decide it is way to expensive, then you can take the chance. Other wise leave it as is. Now a test to see if it's hardware or media. Is to use Digital Dolly and try to clone the HD. If it's able to read the whole disk without failure, Spinrite may be able to repair the drive. This just tells me it has media problem. Which presents another issue. The more you try to read it the worst it gets. To the point it will rip the heads off, and gouge the disk. Not good. You have lost your chance to recover.

I can suggest a company which is very good in providing their services they offer data recovery services means world-class remote RAID recovery services for RAID based systems. Their secure remote data recovery solution minimizes potential disclosure of your private data to inquisitive eyes, and eliminates the risks of damage in the delivery process.
