Default Noisy fan - Snap 2000

All,

I need your assistance. I found an old Quantum Snap 2000 in a box in my basement, woohoo lucky me along with a Dell PowerVault 705n. I figured I would power them on and see what happens. After looking on these forums I found a link to the latest Snap OS 4.0.860, loaded it on both nas units and viola, they work great. The only issue I have is that the CPU fan on the Snap 2000 is extremely noisy, like the bearings are shot. Does anyone know where I can purchase another one?

Thank you all in advance,

Marvin

Marvin, remove the fan and there should be a sticker on it with the model number and specs. Run these numbers via google and you will find the replacement fan.

The 2000 uses a 52x52x15mm fan. 4300rpm, 8.5cfm. I found a 50mm fan with higher cfm and just enlongated 2 of the holes and it works just fine. If your going to install 7200rpm HD you will need the extra CFM.
