Five snap servers for sale locally - good deals?
Someone on CL is selling some network gear for "cheap" so I inquired on his Snap servers...

I could probably make a package deal and get two or more even cheaper. Good prices? He's a good drive from where I live.

Re: Five snap servers for sale locally - good deals?
The 4200 are the only ones I would consider provided they are complete with sleds and GardianOS. Then it would be a real bargin for that price. But without a working/loaded HD with the GOS your SOL, unless you already have a working GOS unit.
The others are so old they are of no use unless your running some very old hardware. The 4100 will only give you 8mbps read speeds on a 100BaseT network.

Well, theres storage amounts listed, so I'm guessing these have drives in them? Typically, would a unit contain all the sleds? I know sometimes when servers and NASs are pulled, the drives and sleds get scrapped out of laziness, this doesn't seem to be the case for these units.

Re: Five snap servers for sale locally - good deals?
Snap listed the size with the units due to internal hardware is different as capacity goes up. As you go up in size a lot of time the cpu speed > and Ram is increased.
Verify before you buy, safe than sorry. On the 4100 the SnapOS is in flashram. These are non upgradeable, with HD limit by LBA48 NOT SUPPORTED.

Looks good...

The Snap has an appeal to me though and I'm guessing if I ever get sick of it it's worth something on ebay? Perhaps the sleds alone are worth something? EDIT: Added in the screen shots he sent me.
