Default A real worklog update

Test equipment is starting to trickle in now; I had most of it shipped to Madison WI and will get it once it's been calibrated and set up to suit my purposes. I finished testing JayDee's "lumpy channel" wb last night and will post a graph here in a bit. Summary? Nice block; HORRIBLE name. I'm running the MCW6000-A now and will try to get reviews of both these blocks done by next week.

I am getting a little burned out on constant wb testing guys and so I am most likely going to take a little hiatus from that for the next few weeks. Instead I have a couple of Pro/Geeks articles I need to post, a water chiller to set up, and *gasp* I'd like to actually finish my main rig's cooling and get it set up. So things may slow down here for a while (I'm travelling much of June too) but don't be concerned.

hmm I forgot to post one other thing of importance

I am setting up a web page that fully describes my test equipment and methods. Hopefully I'll have it up this week too. It will be posted here in the forums for suggestions on improving clarity (if needed) and methods (let's hope not). I am thinking that this could be useful for others getting into cooler testing for other websites.

Preliminary numbers on the MCW6000; final results (w/ all the required reps) could shift up or down by 0.3C or so.

Bill's "2C" improvement seems pretty close to dead on. Block performs a bit better than I expected on my testbed in fact. Getting performance this good is a bit of a pita; the holddown has a lot of play and you have to get the block oriented "just right" as you are tightening it or temps are 1-1.5 degrees worse.

This is the new layout for graphs on the site btw (well almost). I'm going to play around in Origin today and see if I can't set up a simple template for dual Y axis graphs and put L/m on top as well

The graph looks great but I think you forgot to include Jaydee's block. I expect Swiftech is going to be hit with a massive surge of orders with this graph. The results looks extremely impressive.

The first couple of times I mounted the MCW6000 the results were about 2C worse than shown above. The mounting is really not ideal for SocketA; once you get a consistent method though the wb performs great.

I could test another wb tonight and tomorrow but I decided to start formatting Pro/Geeks stuff and get these reviews all ready to go instead. This graph's REALLY getting busy now (what to do about it?)

"Lumpy channel" actually isn't bad at all...performs better or equal to Danger Den TDX w/ #1 nozzle. Far better below 1gpm in fact.

JayDee I need you to e-mail me some .nfo on block design and construction (a paragraph or two is fine). PS make a TEC version for socketA pls

Hehehe. This suprizes me a little being there is no center inlet and a MUCH simpler design. I am VERY happy it performs that well at 1GPM and lower.

I will write something up here tonight. The TEC version is on the drawing board.

Dang JD, you matched DD's new TDX block, by pHaestus account

Got anything else in the works?

Lots of stuff. Just not much time. My current projext is "Project X" in the water block design and construction forum. Pondering buying a large CNC mill.

Whats up with the mark for JayDee's block between 2 and 2.25 GPM, it looks lonely.

Ok thanks, I undrestand now.

i believe that's the maximum flow rate achievable using the equipment. just like the cascade stops at 2gpm.

pH, now that you have results for the TDX's different nozzles, and seeing as both the #4 and 5 improved the TDX's performance, don't you think it's time to test the RBX with these nozzles?
I think it's only fair that you show everyone the best results achieved with each block...

I could be wrong, but I think the RBX has gone the way of the Model T (wow... I'm horrible at analogies.) It's harder to use than the TDX, harder to mount, worse, and the same price. There's no point in reviewing outdated stuff, except for a laugh, maybe, but the RBX isn't outdated enough for that.

If you could pH, how about making a DIY only graph aswell. I got the block to beat! How about some competition?

I know i probably just fail to read delta-t right, but how big a difference would you assume there is in temp using eg. Maze4 and TDX?
