DD GPU MAZE has mounting problems.

When mounting the block I found that the lug nuts on the back side of the card on one of the holes does not become flush with the card since there is a resistor in the way. I find it ironic that a block that is specifically designed for GeForce3s can't be mounted on a GeForce3 that is the same as the reference design. Here's a pic of what I'm talking about.

I've already emailed them about the problem but I wanted to get it out to the public before people buy more of them.

I'd imagine there wouldn't be a problem with anything other than the gf3 referance design, cause there probably wouldn't be a resistor there in the gf2 models.

as far as the washer goes, you should try that adam

Yah they have.. completely forgot heres what they told me.

Hi Aaron,

We did test our blocks on many different brands, but VisionTek was not one of them.

I want to make sure I understand the problem correctly. The way I understand it is, the VisionTek card does have the mounting holes in the correct location, but there is a resistor next to one of the holes and that makes one of the mounting bolts lean sideways. Is that correct?????

Thats all he gave me.. and sorry I didn't reply sooner.. was on a small vacation with the family

btw.. someone told me on [H]ard|Forum if you use the metal plated screw holes it works fine.. but its just a little tilted. This person had a LeadTek card.. Gainward is the one they had at DD I think.

Alright heres what I've gathered so far w/ ones with problems:

VisionTek
LeadTek
Gainward
ASUS

I have no idea which companies THEY were testing then.. We will soon find out. But follow my instructions (metal plated screws.. talked about it above) if you want it to work. should be fine.

Mash you already posted over at the [H]

Read my post over there again.. How did you "mod" the washers.

Well, not everyone here reads over at [H]

I used a cutter to remove enough material on the nylon washer so it could fit between the bolt and the resistor. Then I just added a metal washer on top of it so the nut got a good mating surface.

why dont you just move the resistor ?
As in desolder it, then add extension wire between the card and the resistor ?.

Ok. first off I'm not the greatest "solderer", 2nd off even if I did get my professional friend, that would be putting $230 or more of pressure on his head. He wouldn't do something like that, plus I wouldn't want him to at the moment.. I think mashie's idea is better.

btw mashie: I think I have your exact setup except with the 2x sized heatercore.. I looked on your site.. I am still confused on how that radiator works.. I might do the same if needed with 2x 120MM 130 CFM deltas. One other thing, I've got that GPU maze.. and the Northbridge maze.. should I run my DDMAZE2 lines to my GPU and my northbridge like you did? Or should I use the separate radiator and pump I had set aside for just northbridge and GPU? Its a semi crap radiator (with a 120 MM delta so I think that cancels em out) so I'm not sure which would be best..

yeah mashies solution is the best.

mrcandy, I'd just do that, don't worry about removing the resistor and that sort of crap.

The fan in the front suck air through the radiator so the air goes from the floor, via radiator and fan and out through the front (the pics on my site doesn't show the cut I've done in the front beezel).

I can't see any advantage of using two loops.

Won't the water going through the loop that goes through everything be hotter if it gets to the CPU first or either way.. it wouldn't matter. I think I could just do 1 loop with it going like this..
____________________________________________VGA->#1res->Pump
Pump->Big Radiator->CPU->Small Radiator->Splitter<
____________________________________________Nbridg e->#1res->Pump

Well, if you consider that the water in a system with an Eheim 1048 (600l/h) and 1/2" moves at up to 1.35m/s I doubt that each component will be able to heat it much...

My loop is rad --> pump --> CPU --> GPU --> NB --> rad
