I know a lot of people like those fancy new RAMsync doohickies, but i was on the internet earlier instead of doing my work, and found these things from www.overclockershideout.com
They are waterblocks for your RAM ![]() what you guys think?

Frankly I think they are a waste of money and flow in your system. You could expect little or no gains by watercooling your RAM.

Superart i think you should be banned perm for posting that link in here
![]() whot he heck would run that anyways? ram doesnt get that hot heatspreaders at the most are fine. and now all ram is gonna be tiny bga so i dont know why they bothered to make that. just another one of the pointless things och makes to rip off their stupid customers. bearing in mind that ram uses very small amounts of power, this is more shit from och.
rambust might benefit though, it's 25 - 40w per stick

$40 PER SIDE of the ram..
so $80 to cool both sides of a piece of ram definantly not worth it |

After seeing how OCH has harpooned anyone who speaks bad about their products in their forums, and anyone who even slightly questions them... I think its safe to say OCH has not improved at all in the customer service roll since they started. That in itself should be more than enough to convince you to NOT ever buy anything from them... a respectible company would have no reason deleting posts and banning people for just meantioning a competitors product in a post, or pointing out some minor flaw in their product.
As far as ram cooling goes, I really think thats something that you dont need to worry about on your system memory. Spend the 80$ on something useful like better waterblock, better case, better CPU, better ram, hooker, better hose for your cooling system, better pump, better radiator, or better fans. Dont blow it on just something that may or may not give you any benifit in OC'n. ( and worst of all come with a company like OCH backing it) "OCH - Where if you use water wetter in our systems you are ****ed!"

That price alone is enough to kill that product, but I had one thought instantly pop into my head when I saw that picture.. Your going to break your ram slots with the extra weight. Those things don't look light, and I know the water in them isn't light.

![]() ouch, I didn't notice the price though, damn thats high. for the extra cost you might as well buy mushkin/corsair/crucial

In most instances you may not require cooling. However, after completing the H2O conversion of my system, I experienced lockups.
I had to add a fan only to cool the RDRAM. A water-cooled solution would be nice. Mind you, at $40US, forget about it. From a practical point, it would be best to use 1/4" ID barbs with a serial parallel setup. It would require 2 Y's or 2's using a 1/2"- 2x 1/4" ea | | - 1/2" [[[[[[[[[]]]]]]]]] | | - 1/4" | | - 1/4" R1 R3 | | - 1/4" | | - 1/4" R2 R4 | | - 1/4" | | - 1/4" [[[[[[[[[]]]]]]]]] | | - 1/2" With my ASUS P4T (1.7GHz 423 -115MHZ FSB'd to 1.95Ghz), I have 4 slots to fill (256MB in each for 1GB total) - they do get plenty hot! In an ANTEC 1040B case My cooling setup consists of an Aquastealth II radiator, CPU waterjacket and chipset waterjacket with an Extreme II radiator. Yes 2 rads with 120mm fans circulating air and an Eheim 1048 pushing the liquid. Due to the case size, I've opted to hook the rads and the pump externally. I'm left with a PSU fan, the HD cooling fan and a fan redirected to the saturate the RAM with moving air. I manage to maintain 4 to 7 celsius differential (average of 4). Air cooling gave me 10 to 15 degrees difference. Much better, but still....Cool Silence is the Holy Grail. If I can watercool my RAM....I can get rid of one fan. Watercooling my internal hard disks will cut out another. That would leave only the PSU fan. I will eventually replace the ATI AIW 8500DV fan with a cooling block of some kind. I don't know if I can do this safely (ANTEC smart PSU) although suspect it can be accomplished. So how to cool the RAM? Why wouldn't an epoxied copper block with a straight 1/4" ID bore be sufficient? I'll have to get my hands on a milling unit, or at least a decent drill press. I mostly wanted to address the idea that RAM doesn't get hot. While it doesn't generate as much heat as a CPU, it does gets hot enough to cause hang issues. (Trial & Error Proven) |

FTSI:
True.... But in almost all cases (minus extream OC'ing + voltage mods) a simple heatspeader and moderate airflow around the RAMs should be enough to keep the RAM heat at bay. My 2 cents... ![]()

rdram is entirely differant, it's 40w per stick, while ddr is only 8w

To watercool RDRAM (which is conceivable in a total 'silent' solution ala Bladerunner), you should use a "standard" WB, for example a chipset or GPU model, and put it on a "table" where the legs of the "table" would touch the chips.
That would be fairly enough to cool down rdram, cost only 1 cheap WB and a few copper bits. Code:
|| || +--++--++--+ |waterblock| +----------+ |I| |I| <-- "legs" I I __+I+____+I+_ <- mobo with ram slots |

gmat, I agree with that too. How OCH does it's ram blocks is basically useless if you need to use more than one stick. This way you can cool all the sticks, and fill up all the banks

I'm sorry to say that I've visited their site.
There appears to be a lot of pride about this product, and especially with the new version, featuring silver plating... LOL I think Brad said it best: "rdram is entirely differant, it's 40w per stick, while ddr is only 8w" If you've done the calculation for your CPU, then you know what to do about your DDR memory. |
