Watch out for being locked in a scrapyard with a very large guard dog! It took 1 hour to sneak out over the back fence.
![]() Anyway.......finaly got a copper HC from a Scania truck, but unlike cars the dashboard on these are huge with the HC burried deep inside. Once I lick my wounds a bit more, I'll take some snaps. Safer methods of copper rad collecting could be from these people http://www.readyrads.co.uk. Also, it may be obvious to you-lot, but searching in Google for "heater matrix copper" yeilded better results than "Heatercore"

Dude I take my hat off to you!, I had a good look round some scrapped trucks and I know just how 'buried' those HC's are!...
Let us know the size will you?... |

Dunno 'bout the size but you can guess from the pics below.
I guess 2x 172mm fans + shroud would be fine. BTW, what is the best way to clean up those fins???? I gave the whole lot a bath for 15 hours in diluted vinagar and with a bit of Brasso, it's shines. ![]() ![]() ![]()

use air, if you have a compressor, just blow air on it, or use one of those bbq metal brushes

![]() I used the following for a quick (15min) extraction: --14" Bolt cutters (to cut main lines and anything in the way) --Steel Hammer --Vise grips --Multi head screw driver set with L-bend (for tight spots) --hackSaw WIth a backpack and those above, getting a HC isn't so bad... plus if you do some winter searching, the plastic breaks REALLY easy in the cold! ![]()

i realize i have auto parts accounts and all, and it takes some of the fun out of a field trip, but isn't easier to spend $30-35 at a local parts house to get a ready-to-go no-rebuilding HC?

Man with water cooling...for me, it's ALL about searching and building the stuff MYSELF... I could get someone else's block and stuff and get probably, MUCH better numbers, but I made it my hobby and a good hobby SHOULD take time, work, confusion and finally working solutions... plus, hunting around in the junkyard and BREAKING MAD SHIT IS FUN!!!

Yea, I'd like to build my own WB's but I have no tools really
![]() The project is on hold at the mo, my ABIT BD7-II RAID mobo died after scrapping the old thermal tape off the nothbridge. Purchaced the Atlantis WB's for my P4, NB & Geforce4 (thanks Jess!!) Will get it all going in the new year.
