Dtek-customs radiators.
I am looking at the dtek-customs radiators. It will be used in a 1/2" system with an eheim1250, and depending on the reviews, probably a maze3. I was looking at the Cooler core combo or the Pro combo which would perform better?
|
They're the same radiator... Just one's painted black and has sexy silver painted--or they're just silver in color-- barbs.
|
yup the pro one is bad ace.....i wonder how they painted the core...that would determin if the preformence would suffer

BTW, Webmasta, the barbs are chrome. |
K, thx for the help guys sounds like a winner :) now for the waterblock, its between the spir@l and the maze3. Anyone have any experience, links to reviews, anything on either of them?
|
well, if you want a block NOW, id sy get the Maze3. the Spir@ls are backordered now...
to Haddy: well, the BI rads have painted fins....i wouldnt think it has a noticable affect on performance. |
The waterblock will probably be the last thing i order so, i don't need it right away. I won't need it for atleast a month.

i believe they are painted. i'll be certain once HWlabs replies to my email...

I just airbrushed my radiator. Its easy to do, and you can use any type of paint. whey buy that rad there for that much, when you can get it from autozone for 15 bucks, and then use a 99 cent thing of paint from hobby lobby?
|
Dtek puts a little paint on the outside, it only reaches in about 1/8 in so probably 85% of the rad's surface is unpainted.

willie's told me it's to maximise the heat transfer while keeping it looking good.
we all know that unpainted is the best anyway |

That's gotta suck for D-tek, having a hot product, but not being able to sell it

Yeah, he's pretty annoyed with it. But since Fixxit can't mill them fast enough, Danny's footing the bill to get them mass produced and out there. If not for him, nobody would have them though. I'll be in line to buy his new block as soon as it becomes available. He's not going to put it up until he gets his patent application sent off and is getting them mass produced.
Danny is using the prototype right now. He tells me that his core temps are almost right at water temp. I tell ya, I'm drooling for one. |

He's hoping to have it soon. The patent searches are expensive. I think he said a grand or two. So he may just try to do it himself. I'll try to give him a call sometime in the next couple of days for an update. As long as the application has been received, he has some legal standing if someone tries to steal the design.
I've actually got a picture of the new design, but I can't share it yet until he gives me the okay. Plus I've nowhere to load it from. I've also got a sweet picture of the the spir@l with green dyelite. Pretty sharp looking. That I could share if I had some webspace to drop it on. |
cant you host it on these forums?
if its a .jpg or .gif, i could stick it on my homo-stead website until you can find something more permanent...just email it to me @ cyco_dude@hotmail.com |
Done.
|
so come on, where's this pic?
|
If you've not seen it already, it's got it's own parallel thread.
|
if you paint your heater core like i did, the paint only gets in about 2-3mm, and it still looks good.
