a more designer approach to water blocks.

Ok playing is solid works I came up with this. Inlet in the center over a pin sticking out (most heat transfer there) and outlet on a side somewhere, still not that good as to show it.

I was thinking of somithing similar, but it would not be as high and those three wedge shaped blocks around the centre pole would instead be fins radiating from the centre.

NOOO NOT MORE BIOHAZARD STUFF!

Those will probably sell well though.

Any chance you could do a procooling style snowflake :)

decodeddiesel 01-23-2002 12:13 PM

Very sweet looking Fixittt :D I agree, the bio hazard stuff is so blah over rated these days, that design is killer looking.

Brad 01-23-2002 02:38 PM

yeah, a snowflake would be more effective, cause of the increased surface area.

the procooling block...

redleader 01-23-2002 07:10 PM

Won't warm water collect in the two channels that don't have fittings?

Brad 01-23-2002 09:04 PM

yep, thats why it wouldn't work very well. You'd market this block to the people at [h], icraptic and other lovely websites ;)

Fixittt 01-23-2002 10:19 PM

Well reguardless of how it works, I am gonna make it :)

Who knows, maybe, just maybe........... ahh who knows. But its worth a shot.

Someone get me a good pic of the procooling Snow flake Ill try it.

Brad 01-23-2002 11:49 PM

do a 5/8" inlet and 3x 3/8" outlets on the biohazard one. Then make a manifold like what Bladerunner has. Thats the only way I can see it working well

Kevin 01-24-2002 02:34 AM

5/8" inlet... hehe... right... damn that's some biggy hose. I can't see a mass product actually selling well w/ 5/8" hose.

DigitalChaos 01-24-2002 11:59 AM

thats not a biohazard sign guys... its a radiaton symbol
hehe

Brad 01-24-2002 02:54 PM

5/8" now is just like 1/2" a year ago, everyone thought it was stupid.

I can't see it getting too much above 1/2" and 5/8" eventually though, because of the room around the socket would limit greatly how much surface area you can have inside the block with such a large tube size

resago 01-24-2002 07:41 PM

do a 5/8" pipe instead of barb, 1/2" silicon fits nicely over it anyway.

Brad 01-24-2002 08:21 PM

yeah, thats why in my car radiator I asked for 15mm pipes on it as the outlets, the 1/2" silicone tubing will fit on very well indeed

jaydee 01-24-2002 08:44 PM

You should try to make the water directional so it ends up going in one direction around the outside where the outlet is. Kind of like a whirlpool effect.

Bah!!! there I go thinking again!!!

Fixittt 01-29-2002 01:32 PM

well machining has begun yesterday evening. at about 7 stopped the machining at 2:30 am so I could sleep, and restarted where I left off today at 9:30, it is now 1:30 and I am no where nere done. Work that little mill!!!!

Brad 01-29-2002 03:57 PM

Kevin 01-29-2002 05:29 PM

Fixittt 01-29-2002 06:21 PM

Fixittt 01-30-2002 11:48 AM

I like that raised spike in the middle there. That will be beneficial for bringing up heat. Well I bet it will perform just fine. It looks great. Grab us some pix of the final version :)

Fixittt 01-30-2002 11:57 AM

will do kevin, will do. Still playing around with hose fitting placement, and I amagine polishing that thing will be loads of fun :)

Xel 01-30-2002 02:53 PM

That is really cool.

DarkEdge 01-30-2002 04:18 PM

Impressive. I would like to see the procooling snowflake though. I love the current look though. Once its done and smoothed out its going to rock. I don't know what temps will be like but the should be descent. If all goes well and it performs well you could make a fair share of money from them as long as you could produce them fast enough. lol
