4 towers instead of a tall one
Hey guys, I'm thinking about building a bong, but my pump isn very strong, so I was thinking about building like 4 towers, with half the height of a tall one, Would it work or it doesn't work like that?
Tks... P.S. Sorry for my poor english =p |
look for some of volenti's work on this forum. Not exactlt the same as evap tower. but more compact with more surface area and prolly cheaper too.

instead of making 4 towers.. make one big one...
i beleive it will take less space yet have the same internal square footage... |
Yeah, I could make a very large one, What I can't make is a tall one, because my pump wont make to the top of it... would a large, short bong work? or I have to make it tall, so the water has time to evaporate???
tks |
|
Yeah, I saw the post but It wouldn't work here, It would be perfect to use either a large one, or 4 not so large ones...
Anyone knows if it would work? Tks again for the atention! []s |
Balinju and Hara made a couple of bongs for there school competition, maybe this is what u are thinking. Click here

j813: Yeah, that's kinda like what I want, but the towers would be shorter (something like 0,5m), What I need to know is if the water needs to spend a lot of time in the air so it can evaporate???
Tks |
it needs to cool down, and since evaporation will take place when water is hot and when there is an opening on top then it's obvious the water will evap. hence an evap tower.
It's common knowledge that to cool water u need air well afaik(as far as i know) it doesn't need to evaporate, hot air is what's needed to escape. another method is the heatpipe's method if you know recirculates the water inside a pipe; cool water get's boiled then goes up then after having cooled goes down again. if u dont want evaporation then maybe a heatpipe's method is what ur looking for. |

The other thing that really matters is air flow. A given volume of air can only pick so much extra heat/moisture. Increase the air flow, increase the cooling capacity. The general idea of multiple towers is a good one. I'd start with one or two, then add more 'til you get to the point of diminishing returns. |
Tks Groth, that's exactly what I wanted to know! tks for the other people too, Living and Learning! =)
Well, the project will go to the paper, and maybe someday be made (maybe next week, next month, next year, next life... =P) Another quick question: 1 120mm, 80cmf fan per tower is ok right? I don't want extreme preformance, but I also don't want those things that cool like air coolers... []s |
Yeah, that should be pleny of air. But just in case, when designing, make your fans easy to access. That way you can change them to balance your desires for quiet and for cooling.
