4.0.860 is a patch.
You will need 4.0.830. Changing the OEM will not correct the install.

You are maxing out the capabilities of the 4000. You may want to use a external probe to check the temperature. Every thing you have added has increased the core temperature. Try running with the cover off and a external fan, to verify. I would also check the voltages too. May need to install fans that moves more cfm. I've seen fans fail after they heat up. And restart when they cooled. That happen to my 2000.

You are the first that I know of to install 500 gig drives. Others did not want to be the first.

Stick with v3 unless you need MS AD support. Nothing for Apple.

Good to know that the SMART technology works on the older system.
