Default Re: Upgrading HDD's in 2200?

Since the data is stripped, you will be required to do a backup. There is no way to save the data during a upgrade, or drive failure.

Any particular reason you are running raid 0? JBOD is a lot safer and give you the same capacity, with less risk.

It hasn't been tried with a raid0, but you could use dd and copy the drives. The only problem is correcting the MBR table. You have to use the format /reinit cmd.

A procedure that has worked requires the unit to be in raid1.
Raid 1, fail (disconnect power) top drive (id 10000), verify unit will startup
Powerdown, Replace top drive allow unit to format, and copy the OS.
do the same procedure for the second. Then do any OS upgrades and reinit to corect the drive capacity.

If you don't want to go through all of the swaps. You can use DD to copy the first 25 meg of the hd to the new drives. Then just reformat the dirves from debug and setup.

The snap will base the capacity off of the top drive.

What version of OS are you running?

You will need v3.4.805 or v4 for large disk (>137gig) support.
