The extra ram helps with caching. It allociates 1/2 if I recall. Maybe more on 2 drive units. It does not help as much on a 2 drive raid1 as it does on a raid 5 system. And with the hd have more cache space too. With 128 meg, 4x00 units can run JVM. I think it still locled out on the 2x00 models.
