If it's a real old version it has to go through several steps, 1 to 2 , 2 to 3 or 4. If its a v1 or 2 you need to use a latency OS (Win98) to upgrade it with assist.

Click on the snap Appliance Logo in the main admin page and post it's vitals. The we can give you more info on what you will need.
