Sam the 1000 use a special control system for controlling the HD. It does not start up soon as the start signal is received. It seam to wait up to 5 sec before it starts spinning up the HD. The v2 and 1100 start as soon as the start is signal is received. Less wear and tear the better.

All snaps are design for 24/7 so it does not hurt them. You must operate the unit with the cover on. Failure to do so will over heat the units. There is a sensor somewhere on the MB that controls the fan. I discoverd with out a cover or cover the gap between the HD and rear of case the fan will not run and the temp gets real hot.
